Bowling Green, Ohio -- The Falcons (7-13) are set to begin the Mid-American Conference portion of their 2015 schedule, with a two game series against conference foe Toledo this Saturday at 2 pm and Sunday at 1 pm. The Orange and Brown then face Detroit for a doubleheader March 31, beginning at 2:30 pm.

ABOUT THE ROCKETS
Game 1 vs. BGSU: Saturday, March 28 at 2 pm
Game 2 vs. BGSU: Sunday, March 29 at 1 pm
Toledo enters the series with an overall record of 12-16 on the season. Saturday and Sunday's games will be the home opener of the 2015 season for the Rockets. The Rockets competed in two of the same tournaments this year at the Falcons, but the two teams have yet to face each other. At the Cleveland State Dome Tournament, UT played five games, for a tournament record of 2-3. The Rockets went 3-1 overall at the USF-Under Armour Invitational. As a team, Toledo is hitting .283 with an earned run average of 5.03. The Rockets are led by Celeste Fidge, who is batting a team-high .439, with 36 hits in her 82 at bats.
Toledo is coached by Kristen Butler, who is in her first season at the helm of the Rockets. UT is assisted by coaches Rod Radcliffe and Danielle Zymkowitz.

Detroit currently sits at 2-21 on the season and 0-3 in the Horizon League. The Titans' first win came against Southern and the other against the MAC's Eastern Michigan. Detroit was also a participant at the USF-Under Armour Invitational, where they finished 0-5. John Conway is in his first season at head coach for the Titans, and is assisted by Matt Chidester.

"We are extremely fired up to start the MAC season. Opening weekend of the MAC is always an exciting time but to open with Toledo, makes the weekend that much bigger. The team has had a solid week of preparation and we are ready to start our bid for a MAC title."

LAST TIME OUT
The Falcons suffered their 13th loss of the season to No. 4 ranked Michigan on March 18. The Wolverines defeated BGSU 8-1 win at Alumni Field in Ann Arbor. Freshman Kayla Koch had two of the Falcons' four hits on the day, including a solo home run in the fourth inning. Junior Molly Holliday had a triple vs. the Wolverines, while freshman Morgan Evangelista also had a hit in the game.

SEARLE SPARKS OFFENSE
This season, sophomore Aspen Searle leads the team in slugging pct., on base pct., runs, RBIs, doubles, homeruns, doubles, total bases and total base appearances. Searle hit .579 and slugged 1.000 over a six-game span from March 10-15. She had at least one hit in each contest and four multi-hit games.

STEALING BASES
Three Falcons have combined for 19 of the team's 22 stolen bases this season. Marina Cobbs is a perfect 7-for-7, Aspen Searle is 6-for-7 and Molly Holliday is 6-for-8. Outside of the trio, Chloe Giordano, Emily McClelland and Amanda Durham all have one stolen base a piece.

FAST START FALCONS
BGSU has now scored 34 first inning runs in the 2015 season. The Falcons started the season having scored 22 first inning runs through the team's first eight games. The Falcons highest scoring first inning was at the Cleveland State Dome Tournament (Feb. 6-8), with 10 against Canisius in BG's third game of the tournament.
CONFERENCE AWARDS
BGSU has received at least one MAC weekly award after three of the five weeks in which the team has competed this season to date. Junior Braiden Dillow earned MAC Pitcher-of-the-Week honors on Feb. 10, following the Falcons' season-opening tournament at Cleveland State, and sophomore Trista Mokienko and senior Jamie Kertes earned league Player- and Pitcher-of-the-Week accolades two weeks later (Feb. 24), following the team's trip to Charleston, S.C., for the Cougar Classic. Most recently, sophomore Aspen Searle was named MAC Player of the Week March 17 for the East Division for her performance in the team's games in Bloomington, Ind.
PRESEASON POLL
BGSU was chosen to finish sixth in the Mid-American Conference East Division in the Softball preseason coaches poll, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the league offices. Defending MAC Champions Ohio University was tabbed to be the favorite in the East Division in 2015, receiving eight out of a possible 12 first place votes. Kent State was picked to finish second with two votes, and Akron and Buffalo each received one first place vote. The Zips and Bulls were chosen to finish third and fourth, respectively. Miami was picked to finish fifth in the East, followed by BGSU in sixth to round out the East.
