Brittany Sinclair Breaks School Record In 400 Hurdles
April 18, 2015 | Women's Track and Field
Charlottesville, Va. – Redshirt senior Brittany Sinclair broke a school record that had stood for 23 years, running the 400 hurdles in 58.97 seconds at the Virginia Challenge Saturday afternoon. It places her firmly among the top 20 competitors in the event in the entire East region.
Sinclair's time was good for fourth place out of 30 runners at the Virginia Challenge and solidifies her place at the top of the MAC rankings in the event. Tara Allen set the record in 1992 with a time of 59.74 seconds but Sinclair has been building towards a new record throughout the 2015 outdoor season. She began the season with a time of 1:01.13 at the Raleigh Relays and then came up just shy of the school record a week ago when she ran 59.77 seconds at the Tennessee Relays. That performance was the fastest in the MAC this year prior to Saturday.
Her race concluded a strong weekend for Sinclair. She ran the 400 Friday night in a personal best 55.51 seconds to move up to third in the MAC in that event and fifth in BGSU history.
For Sinclair, it is the third individual school record she owns along with three relay school records. For indoor track and field, she holds the program's all-time fastest times in the 300, the 400 and the 1600 relay. In outdoor, she now holds the 400 hurdles record, along with the 400 relay and the 800 relay.
Bowling Green will compete in two events during the upcoming weekend, competing at the Gina Relays, hosted by Hillsdale, Thursday through Saturday, as well as the Ashland Alumni Open on Friday and Saturday.
