Pleger To Compete At USA Championships Saturday

Eugene, Ore. – Bowling Green State University graduate Brooke Pleger will compete at the 2015 USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships in the hammer throw Saturday at 3:15 pm ET. The meet will take place at historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
Competing in her first career post-collegiate meet, Pleger is seeded seventh at the meet. Five of the six hammer throwers ranked ahead of her exhausted their collegiate eligibility at least a year ago and have been competing professionally. The only collegian ranked ahead of Pleger is NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field national champion DeAnna Price, from Southern Illinois.
Along with competing for a national championship, qualification for a number of other meets are on the line, including the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing in August, the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto in July and the 2015 North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Senior Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica in August.
"I am really excited for the opportunity to compete Saturday," Pleger said. "This meet will determine if my season continues and if I will get the opportunity to compete for Team USA again. I have had great practices leading up to the meet, so I feel confident in my ability to have another solid meet."
A year ago, Pleger placed 10th at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships and was the top collegiate finisher at the meet. In 2013, she finished 11th and was second among collegians. Hayward Field was the site of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Championships just two weeks ago when Pleger placed third in the country and earned her third career first-team All-American honor.
