Full Schedule
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio—The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving program, under first-year head coach Matt Ense, announced the 2015-16 schedule on Thursday afternoon. The season will begin on Oct. 2 with the Orange and Brown intrasquad meet at Cooper Pool.
"I like the way our schedule stacks up this year as it is very competitive and each meet will give us great racing opportunities to be better prepared for the Mid American Conference Championships," Ense said about the schedule. "We look forward to kicking things off with our annual Orange and Brown meet followed up by the Tom Stubbs relays. This will allow our freshman to gain some experience before heading into our first meet against conference opponent Ohio University."
Bowling Green will host four meets during the regular season, working up towards hosting the Mid-American Conference Championships Feb. 24-27 at Cooper Pool. The Falcons will host the annual Tom Stubbs Relays (Oct. 16) and will also host three other meets – Ohio (Oct. 24), Miami (Jan. 22), and Youngstown State/Oakland (Feb. 5).
Homecoming Weekend will be action-packed for Falcon swimming this year. On Friday of Homecoming Weekend, the Falcons will host Akron, Toledo, Findlay, Youngstown State, and Oakland in the Tom Stubbs Relays. The next day will feature the Jean Campbell Alumni Meet, where all Falcon swimming & diving alumni are welcomed back to campus.
The very next weekend will see the Falcons partake in their first dual meet of the season when they welcome to the Ohio Bobcats on Oct. 24 at 11:00 a.m. The #BattleOfI75 will take place the following weekend, when the Orange and Brown travel north to Toledo for a dual meet on Friday, Oct. 30.
The final few meets of the 2015 calendar year will see the Falcons travel to East Lansing for a meet with Michigan State and Cincinnati, and also to Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh Invite, Nov. 20-22) and Akron (Zippy Invitational, Dec. 4-6). The meet between BGSU, MSU, and UC will pit Ense against his former team, as he came to Northwest Ohio after two seasons as an assistant coach with the Bearcats.
The Falcons will finally return home for a dual meet with Miami after the holiday recess, hosting the RedHawks on Friday, Jan. 22 at 3:00 p.m. The next two Fridays will mark the final two meets of the season prior to MAC Championships. BGSU will travel to Ypsilanti on Friday, Jan. 29 for a dual meet with MAC foe Eastern Michigan, before hosting both Youngstown State and Oakland on Friday, Feb. 5.
After three consecutive third-place finishes at the MAC Championships, Ense and the Falcons will be looking to get over the hump with the help of the home crowd at Cooper Pool from Feb. 24-27 when they host the MAC Championships.
