CINCINNATI – Former BGSU baseball player Burke Badenhop, who now plays for the Cincinnati Reds, showed the BGSU baseball coaching staff around the Reds' clubhouse at Great American Ball Park yesterday (Aug. 4).
Â
After following Badenhop into the players-only parking garage, the right-handed pitcher brought the staff into the Reds' locker room. From there, Badenhop took the staff into the lounge area and then to the video room. Stops were also made at the treatment area, weight room and lastly the underground batting cages. Badenhop also took the staff onto the field and around the Reds' dugout.
Â
Badenhop left the staff tickets at will call for the evening's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Pitching against the best team in baseball, Badenhop earned a hold by tossing a scoreless seventh inning, preserving the Reds' 3-2 lead. Cincinnati went on to win the ballgame by that same score line.
Â
Badenhop has now made 13 consecutive appearances without allowing an earned run. The righty last surrendered an earned run on July 3. The former Falcon played for head coach Danny Schmitz from 2002-05. The Falcons won the Mid-American Conference regular season title in 2002, and won 30-plus games again in 2005.
