Junior Rachel Myers and freshman Caterrion Thompson led the scoring parade with 19 points apiece, while sophomore Carly Santoro added 11 points and senior Ashley Tunstall 10.
Rachel McInerney led the visitors with 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds, while Ally Christman added 12 points, hitting all four of her team's successful three-point field goals.
BGSU shot 52.1 percent from the field in the win, including 60% over the final three quarters.
The Falcons, tied with the Bulldogs after one quarter of play, outscored the visitors by a 30-10 count in the second period en route to a 45-25 halftime lead. The Brown and Orange then scored 31 third-quarter points, and gradually extended the lead to the final 50-point margin.
BG went 11-for-19 (57.9%) from the field in the second period and 13-for-19 (68.4%) in the third.
BGSU jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead on a three-pointer by sophomore Sydney Lambert with under two minutes gone. The Bulldogs battled back, however, eventually forging a 13-13 tie on McInerney's layup with 2:44 left in the opening period. Senior Abby Siefker's pull-up jumper gave the hosts the lead again, but a Riley Blair bucket knotted the score at 15-all after 10 minutes of play.
The Falcons proceeded to score 17 consecutive points to begin the second quarter. Santoro scored seven points, Myers six and Siefker four during that 17-0 scoring surge.
Siefker hit a layup just 11 seconds into the quarter to give the Falcons the lead for good, and Tunstall drove inside and kicked the ball out to Myers for a corner three and a 20-15 lead. Myers quickly stole the ball at midcourt and fed Santoro for a layup, and after a BG defensive stop, Santoro hit another jumper.
Freshman Jane Uecker, just seconds after checking into the game for the first time, grabbed a defensive rebound and then fed Siefker for a banker on the next possession. BGSU's lead was 26-15, and the margin would remain double figures for the rest of the afternoon. When Myers connected from beyond the arc again, the Bulldogs used a timeout.
But, out of that break, Santoro turned defense into offense, stealing the ball and hitting an 'and-one' layup. The sophomore hit the ensuing free throw to complete the three-point play and give the home team a 32-15 lead. FSU crept within 14 points on two occasions before halftime, the last on a McInerney three-point play with 3:15 left in the half, but senior Rachel Konieczki knocked down a pair of charity tosses, then took a pass from freshman Andrea Cecil and hit a three-pointer with 1:43 left. Blair hit a jumper late in the period, but Cecil found Uecker for a triple with just six seconds left before the intermission.
In the third quarter, the margin remained roughly 20 points until another BG scoring run. Thompson and sophomore Maddie Cole combined for all of the points in a 15-0 run over the last three minutes of the quarter. Thompson began the run with a triple, then fed Cole for a jumper at the 2:15 mark. Cole returned the favor, finding Thompson for another three-pointer.
Cole hit shots on back-to-back possessions, and Thompson drained yet another long-range shot in the final second of the quarter, giving BG a 76-41 lead.
The overall run eventually reached 20-0. Thompson made her fourth three-pointer in a span of just 3:26, and Cecil's steal and layup made it an 81-41 game with less than a minute gone in the fourth quarter. The lead never dropped lower than 37 points the rest of the day, and a free throw by freshman Clare Glowniak with 45 seconds remaining enabled the home team to reach triple digits on the scoreboard.
Siefker had eight points in the win, while Cecil and Konieczki scored seven apiece and Cole six. Lambert, Uecker and junior Haley Puk had three points each to round out BGSU's 12 scorers.
Myers scored 11 points in the second quarter alone, while Santoro had seven points on 3-for-3 shooting in that period, as BG took control of the game. The third quarter saw Thompson score nine points, Myers eight and Cole six. Thompson was 3-for-4 from the floor in the third period, while Cole and Myers each were a perfect 3-for-3.
Thompson, who did not score in the first half, completed her 19-point second half by singlehandedly outscoring FSU in the fourth quarter. The Lima, Ohio, native had 10 points in that final period, while Cecil added seven.
The Falcons open the regular season on Friday night (Nov. 11) at Eastern Kentucky, before facing Cincinnati in the home opener on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 15.
