Training Trip Day Three
December 19, 2016 | Women's Swimming & Diving
Naples, FL – The Bowling Green State University swimmers and divers are currently enjoying the sun at Naples, Florida, as they focus on their training trip for the 2016-17 season.
The Falcons are only two months away from finishing the 2016-17 season. Quoting second year head coach, Matt Ense, "Training trip is not only a time for the swimmers and divers to work hard, but also to do some quality team bonding. Also with school being done, they can put all of their focus on their practices and recovery time, which is crucial at this point of the season".
Junior Falcon, Natalie Criswell will be blogging daily to keep fans updated. You can find her blog for the third day of training trip below:
Three days down, four to go. We are almost halfway through our training camp and what a trip it has been. At this point soreness is setting in, lack of sleep is hitting, and tan lines are strengthening. This training trip we are getting toned and tan, over the last three days we've done ten practices. Five water workouts, two spin classes and three cross fit led to one much deserved afternoon off. For the swimmers the day started at 4:30am, the sprinters went to the Greater Naples YMCA where they did dryland and lifting, while the mid distance and distance swimmers swam at the YMCA Norris pool. Practice consisted on long swimming, kicking, drilling and a surprise visit from our athletic director Bob Moosbrugger. It was so cool that he surprised us and was able to catch a good portion of practice. After swimming, the mid distance and distance swimmers headed to Einstein Bagels to grab a bite to eat before spin class. At breakfast we bumped into Floridians that we met on last years training trip and they remembered us, how cool! After some fresh bagels the swimmers and divers met up at the Greater Naples YMCA for a spin class. We didn't think that spin class could be any harder than Saturday; we were wrong. This was a full body workout with EDM Christmas music, and tons of sweating... it was interesting to say the least. After spin class we had a team meeting where coach Matt surprised us with the afternoon off and I am sure you can imagine how excited the team was! The rest of the day consisted on tanning on the beach, playing in the ocean, drinking smoothies, and lots of laughing. We ended the night with a sand castle building contest and homemade dinners. What a great day! We will be back to business tomorrow at 5:15am at the YMCA Norris pool.
Keep up with your Falcons at training trip daily, as they get ready for the final part of the 2016-17 season.
