Fifteen Falcons Named Academic All-MAC

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced its 2016 Women's Swimming and Diving Academic All-MAC team on Tuesday. Fifteen members of the Bowling Green State University Swimming and Diving program earned Academic All-MAC honors. This Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have excelled in academics and athletics. A student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for their particular sport to earn the honor.
Three Falcons earned Academic All-MAC recognition for the second time in their career, headlined by senior Kayla Effinger. Effinger holds a 3.752 GPA in Biology and earned a second team All-MAC honor in the 2016 Championship. Joining her is senior Nicole Hranchook, who holds a 3.644 GPA in Health Science. Alexandra Poitinger, a senior from Akron, Ohio also earned the honor two times in her career, and holds a 3.554 GPA in Tourism/Leisure and Event Planning.
A total of 12 Falcons were named to the Academic All-MAC team for the first time in their career, three of which are seniors. Jordan Bullock, a senior from Zeeland, Mich., holds a 3.313 GPA in Biology. A native from Orland Park, Ill., Tara Capouch has a 3.321 GPA in Physical Education and Health Education. Rachel Perry, a diver for the Falcons, holds a 3.395 in Chemistry.
Of the 12 Falcons earning the honor for the first time, three are juniors, headlined by Victoria Griffin. Griffin earned the honor with a 3.260 GPA in Criminal Justice, just a few short weeks after being named First Team All-MAC and qualified for the 2016 USA Olympic Trials. Hannah Albion, holds a 3.487 GPA in psychology and is a junior from Fort Myers, Fla. Maya Skorupski, a junior from West Chicago, Ill., holds a 3.441 in Biology. Anna Babinec, a native from Holland, Mich., has a 3.464 GPA in gerontology
Amanda Washko led the way for the underclassmen, with a 3.933 GPA in Pre-Business Administration. Sophomore Maria Galic holds a 3.928 GPA in Pre-Exercise Science, and is a native of Jonkoping, Sweeden. Sophomore Kylie Bosco, a diver for the Falcons, holds a 3.600 GPA in biology. Natalie Criswell, a sophomore from Portage, Mich., holds a 3.256 in Pre-Business Administration. Elodie Schreiber is a redshirt sophomore from Saint-Nabor, and holds a 3.804 GPA in Interior Design.
