Heredia Iglesias Paces Falcons on Day One of Colleton River Collegiate

Bluffton, S.C. – Freshman BGSU golfer Pablo Heredia Iglesias ended day one of play with a 36-hole score of 147, +3, to pace the Falcons over the first two rounds of play on Monday at the fourth annual Colleton River Collegiate hosted by Michigan State University on the Pete Dye Course at the Colleton River Plantation Club in Bluffton, South Carolina.
The Falcons as a team carded back-to-back rounds of 306, +18, to end day one in ninth-place overall out of the 12-team field with a 36-hole team score of 612, +36. BGSU, which is just nine strokes out of third-place, are ahead of Ball State (615), Rutgers (619) and Toledo (632).
"For our first time out this spring I am pleased with the way we played," commented head coach Kevin Farrell. "We left a lot of shots out there and were not as consistent as we need to be come April and May. But we still played good enough to keep us within reach of the top-five with a solid round tomorrow."
Heredia Iglesias wrapped up day one of play in a tie for ninth-place overall with his 36-hole score of 147, +3. The freshman had a solid first 18-holes in the morning round, as he totaled two birdies and 15 pars for a round of 72, even par. He followed up his first round with a second round 75, +3, which included two more birdies and a total of 11 pars.
Junior Jose Narro carded rounds of 75, +3, and 77, +5, to finish day one in a tie for 28th with his 36-hole score of 152, +8. Narro registered four birdies, two over each round, and 23 pars on the day.
Two strokes behind Narro sits Rinker in a tie for 37th-place overall with a two-round combined score of 154, +10. Rinker was up and down over both rounds of play, finishing with a team-high five birdies, but also carding only 16 pars over his 36 holes of play. He recorded scores of 80, +8, and 74, +2, on Monday.
Rounding out the Falcon lineup on Monday was Cameron Michalak and Trey Walker. Michalak carded a two-round score of 159, +15, with rounds of 79, +7, and 80, +8, to place in a tie for 61st overall. Walker finished day one with rounds of 80, +8, and 83, +11, to place in a tie for 74th with his 36-hole score of 163, +19.
Playing as individuals at the two-day event were BGSU's Max Rispler, Ethan DeForest and Eli Stacy.
Rispler bounced back from a first round 81, +9, to shoot a second round 73, +1, to end day one in a tie for 37th overall with a 36-hole score of 154, +10. The first-year Falcon matched Rinker with a team-high five birdies over his two rounds of play.
DeForest turned in rounds of 88, +16, and 79, +7, for a combined score of 167, +23, to conclude day one in a tie for 84th, while Stacy finished with rounds of 92, +20, and 93, +21, for a 36-hole score of 185, +41, to sit in 89th heading into Tuesday's final round of play.
The College of Charleston sits atop of the team leaderboard after two rounds of play with a team score of 589, +13. In second-place is UConn (598), while North Texas (600) ended day one in third-place after two rounds of play.
The third and final round of play is set for an 8 a.m. start on Tuesday morning. The Falcons will tee-off beginning at 8:45 a.m.
