Falcons’ Griffin Set to Compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials

Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University rising senior swimmer Victoria Griffin will represent the Falcons at the upcoming 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials on June 26 - July 3 in Omaha, Nebraska.Griffin, who hails from Littlestown, Pa., qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials back in Dec. 2015. On the last swim of the first session of a long course meet at Akron, the junior at the time swam a 26.21 in the 50 meter free to just miss the cut mark of 26.19. However, the determined Griffin refused to quit, as 30 minutes later she had another chance and redeemed herself with a time of 26.00 to punch her ticket to the U.S. Olympic Trials.
"It is an honor for Victoria to represent the Bowling Green State University swimming and diving family at the Olympic Trials," stated head coach Matt Ense. "It is a testament to Victoria's passion and drive for success that has allowed her this opportunity to compete in Omaha for a spot on the USA Olympic Team."
As one of 191 swimmers set to compete in the women's 50 meter freestyle, Griffin is seeded 107th overall entering the event with the preliminaries and semifinals scheduled for Saturday, July 2.
"Victoria is gearing up for trials with lots of rest and working on fine tuning the timing of her breakouts," continued Coach Ense.

The Trials will be shown exclusively across the NBC networks and mobile platforms. Prelims will be LIVE daily at 11 a.m. Eastern Time on the NBC Sports app.
NBC Sports will live stream the 2016 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials beginning on June 26 and continuing through July 3. NBC's comprehensive live streaming from the Trials will include all of the prelims and finals sessions.
