LAST WEEK'S WRAP UP
The Bowling Green women's soccer program opened Mid-American Conference play with a decisive 2-0 victory over Ohio last Friday at Cochrane Stadium. In the Falcons shutout of the Bobcats, redshirt sophomore Erica Hubert found the back of the net for the game winner, while junior Skylar Fleak scored for the fourth match in a row to make it a 2-0 final. Critical to the Bowling Green defense was freshman goalkeeper Kathleen Duwve, who recorded four saves on the night, and earned her second career shutout. Duwve faced 10 attempted shots by the Bobcats in her third start of the season.
The Falcons remained at home for a Sunday afternoon matchup, but fell to Mid-American Conference foe Kent State in a narrow 1-0 final. Duwve made her fourth start of the season and tallied seven saves in the midst of facing 15 attempted shots by the Golden Flashes. Even despite Kent State getting past the Sylvania, Ohio native in the 17th minute with a kick into the top part of the net, Duwve recorded an .875 save percentage on the day.
