Bowling Green Begins KZoo Classic Monday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's golf program travels to Portage, Michigan to compete in the KZoo Classic over Oct. 2-3. The 54-hole tournament is being hosted by Western Michigan University at The Moors Golf Club.

THE FALCONS AT THE KZOO CLASSIC
* The tournament will begin with 36 holes (two rounds) on Monday, Oct. 2, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday, Oct. 3. Both days will start with 9 a.m. shotgun starts.
* BGSU will be participating in the KZoo Classic for the second-straight season.
* Last season, Bowling Green scored a 939 to finish in sixth place.

THE FIELD
* The KZoo Classic, including Bowling Green, will have a total of six teams in the field.
* The six-school field includes: Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Ohio University, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Western Michigan (hosts).

THE FIRST THREE TOURNAMENTS FOR THE FALCONS
* Bowling Green is now 50 percent finished with its 2017-18 fall season. Following the KZoo Classic, the Falcons will wrap up the fall schedule with trips to the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational (Oct. 9-10) and the Dayton Fall Invitational (Oct. 16-17).
* Bowling Green posted two top-10 scores (54 holes) in program history to open the season.
* BGSU shot a 921 at the Redbird Invitational, which ranks eighth-best in school history.
* Bowling Green then carded a 923 at the Cardinal Classic, which ranks ninth-best in program history.
* Individually, the Falcons have carded six top-16 scores in program history for single 18-hole rounds, along with five top-10 54-hole scores.

MORE ON THE BGSU STARTING FIVE
Erin Fahey
Currently sits atop the BGSU record books with a 76.68 scoring average … Has posted 54-hole scores of 225 in each of the past two tournaments, which both rank inside the top 10 in program history … Carded a career-low 70 at the Mary Fossum Invitational last week.

Nichole Cox
Recorded the second top-20 finish of her career last week in just her third appearance … Has posted eight-straight rounds of 78 or lower … Registered a career-low 70 at the Redbird Invitational … Carded a 54-hole low 225, also at the Redbird Classic, in the season opener.

Julia Durkin
Will be making her third-straight appearance on the 2017-18 season … Set 18-hole and 54-hole lows at the Cardinal Classic, as she carded a 72 in round three and a total of 224 for the tournament … Averaging a career-best 77.33 on the season.

Madelynn Swank
The senior is making her 2017-18 season debut … Making her 18th-career appearance … Has earned three top-25 individual finishes … Named to the Academic All-MAC team for the 2016-17 season.

Sammi Blackburn
Has appeared in every tournament for the Falcons in 2017-18 season … Carded a 54-hole low of 242 to finish tied for 43rd at the Redbird Invitational … Shot a hole-in-one on the par three No. 9 in the first round of the Mary Fossum Invitational.

Sarah Kern
Earned spots in the BGSU lineup in each of the first three tournaments … Tied her 54-hole low with a 239 at the Redbird Invitational to open the season … Shot a season-low 77 at the third round of the Redbird Invitational, and also at the first round of the Cardinal Classic.
