October 25, 2017 | Women's Swimming & Diving
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Sophomore diver Talisa Lemke has been named the Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week, as named by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 25). This is the first Scholar Athlete of the Week honor for Lemke, as she won both diving events last weekend in a double-dual meet that BGSU swept against Xavier and Tiffin. Lemke is the fourth BGSU student-athlete to earn this award during the first eight weeks of the 2017-18 academic year.
Lemke, a native of Berlin, Germany, set new season highs against the Musketeers and Dragons on Saturday (Oct. 21). She posted a cumulative 282.75 in the one-meter event and a 307.50 on the three-meter board. Her victories helped Bowling Green defeat Xavier 166-129 and Tiffin 254-18. The double-dual sweep improved the Falcons' record to 3-0 in 2017.
In BGSU's first meet of the season, a dual against St. Francis, Lemke earned a one-meter score of 275.35 and a three-meter score of 305.00. She won both diving events against the Red Flash, and she is already qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones competition next March. Lemke has surpassed the one-meter and three-meter qualifying standards in both meets this season.
Lemke owns a 4.000 grade point average as a theatre major. She is also the owner of the all-time BGSU records in both diving events; she set both marks during a freshman season that was capped with MAC Freshman of the Year honors and an appearance at the NCAA Diving Zones.Â
BGSUÂ returns to action this weekend with their first competition against a MAC opponent of the 2017-18 season when they host the Eastern Michigan Eagles. The dual meet begins at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 and will be held at Cooper Pool, which is llocated inside Bowling Green's Student Recreation Center.
