Falcons Begin Shirley Spork EMU Invitational On Monday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Coming off a championship at the KZoo Classic earlier in the week, the Bowling Green State University women's golf program travels to Ypsilanti, Michigan to compete in the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational over Oct. 9-10. The 54-hole tournament is being hosted by Eastern Michigan University at the Eagle Crest Golf Club.
BGSU AT THE SHIRLEY SPORK EMU INVITATIONAL
* The tournament will begin with 36 holes (two rounds) on Monday, Oct. 9, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday, Oct. 10. Both days will start with 9 a.m. shotgun starts.
* The Falcons will be a part of the first-ever Shirley Spork EMU Invitational, as this is the inaugural tournament.
* Eagle Crest Golf Club is a par-72, 6,127-yard course.
THE FIELD
* The Shirley Spork EMU Invitational, including Bowling Green, will have a total of 11 teams in the field.
* The 11-school field includes: Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Cleveland State, Eastern Michigan (hosts), Marshall, Oakland, Ohio, Dayton, Youngstown State, Western Michigan, Purdue (individuals only).
FALCONS WIN THE KZOO CLASSIC
* Over Oct. 2-3, Bowling Green finished in first place at the KZoo Classic, as the Falcons ran away with the title, finishing the 54-hole tournament 20 strokes ahead of the next closest competitor.
* The win for BGSU was its first team championship since the 2016 Snowman Classic.
* The win for BGSU was its first fall team championship since the 2015 Redbird Invitational.
* BGSU carded a season-low 915, which is the program's seventh best 54-hole mark.
* Erin Fahey led the way for the Falcons, as she captured her first-career individual title by shooting a season-low 224.

Nichole Cox

Madelynn Swank
Swank made her season debut at the KZoo Classic, and shot a 238 to finish to finish tied for 13th, which is her best finish since she won the 2014 Jon P. Spiess Memorial … Swank's 238 was the second best 54-hole score of her career … This event will mark the 19th tournament of Swank's career.
Julia Durkin
By finishing tied for 13th place at the KZoo Classic, Durkin posted the third best finish of her Falcon career … Durkin has posted the top two 54-hole scores of her career this season, as she scored a career-low 224 at the Cardinal Classic, and followed it up with a 238 at the KZoo Classic.
Sammi Blackburn
Blackburn tied for 16th at the KZoo Classic, which is the best finish of her young Falcon career … Blackburn scored a career-low 241 at the event, which topped her previous career low by a single stroke … She carded a round-two 76, which is the best 18-hole score of her career.
Jessica Madry
Making her first appearance in the BGSU lineup since being in the lineup for the Falcons' 2017-18 fall opener at the Redbird Invitational … Carded a 241 at the Redbird Invitational, and started off the tournament with a career-low 74 in the first round … The sophomore is making her 13th-career appearance.
