Doege Tosses Four Touchdowns in Falcons Loss Against Toledo

BGSU took the opening kickoff and scored on their first drive. Doege led a seven-play, 74-yard march that was capped with a 57-yard catch-and-run over the middle by Teo Redding. Toledo took a 14-7 led at the end of the first quarter, but the Falcons tied the game early in the second frame. BGSU tackled Rocket punter Michael Julian at the Toledo 24 after a bad snap, and Doege found Andrew Clair wide open for a 24-yard touchdown pass on the next play. Later in quarter, Teo Redding fought through tight coverage for a 17-yard touchdown reception to tie the game at 21.
Toledo took the lead on a Jameson Vest field goal with 19 seconds left in the first half, then pulled away with six touchdowns after halftime. Scott Miller caught Doege's fourth touchdown pass, a 27-yarder, in the third quarter. A field goal by Jake Suder and a touchdown run by Grant Loy in the fourth quarter provided the Falcons final points.

- Doege's four touchdown passes are a career best and the most by a Falcons' QB since James Morgan threw five in 2016 at Toledo.
- Doege completed 17 of 30 passes for 270 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.
- Doege has 564 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception in his last two games. He's up to 10 TDs for the season.
- Grant Loy completed one pass for 39 yards and rushed twice for seven yards and a touchdown.
- Loy's rushing score was his second of the season; his first was at Northern Illinois.
- Teo Redding caught three balls for 78 yards and two touchdowns. He leads BGSU with seven scoring receptions.
- Andrew Clair set career highs with three catches for 51 yards. His TD reception was the second of his career.
- Scott Miller (3-53-1 TD) caught the 14th touchdown pass of his career and fourth of 2017.
- Josh Cleveland led the Falcons with 12 carries for 47 yards.
- BGSU finished with 63 plays and 389 yards of total offense, averaging 6.2 yards per play.
- The Falcons were 4-for-11 on third downs and 3-for-3 in the red zone (2 TD, 1 FG).
DEFENSE
- Brandon Harris forced a fumble, his third forced fumble of 2017 and the fifth of his career.
- Marcus Milton broke up two passes. He has six pass break-ups in 2017.
- Fred Garth set a career high with 13 tackles.
- Nate Locke also had 13 tackles, while Brandon Harris contributed ten.
SPECIAL TEAMS
- Joe Davidson punted four times for 175 yards (43.8/punt) and had two punts downed inside the 20.
- Davidson has now downed 28 of 57 punts (.491) inside the 20, and 13 of those have been downed inside the 10.
- Davidson's long punt of the game was 58 yards; it was his tenth 50-yarder of 2017.
- Jake Suder was 5-for-5 (4 XP, 1 FG) against Toledo. Suder has made 28 of 29 extra points and 17 of 19 field goals in 2017.
- Matt Wilcox returned four kickoffs for 77 yards and an average of 19.2 yards per return.
UP NEXT
Bowling Green concludes the 2017 season next Tuesday evening (Nov. 21) at Eastern Michigan. The Falcons will battle the 4-7 Eagles beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Ypsilanti, Mich. at Rynearson Stadium. The broadcast of the game has yet to be determined but will be on either ESPNU or ESPN3. BGSU owns a 25-12-1 record in the all-time series againnst EMU and won the most recent meeting in Ypsilanti 58-7 in 2013.
