Raiders Get Past Falcons, 4-3

Dayton, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis team lost a close match to the Wright State Saturday evening, 4-3 at the South Regency Tennis Center. The Falcons came away with three singles victories and a doubles win on the day.
"We finished the day knowing we left everything out on the court and I'm proud of how hard they all fought," head coach Stephanie Dalmacio said. "We might have lost on paper, but we definitely won in the level of competitiveness and improvements made."
Doubles play got started with sophomore Paula Comella and freshman Marharita-Sophia Tavpash getting past Taylor Culbertson and Tori Turner on court 1, winning 6-2 and giving the Falcons the first victory of the evening.
The Falcons looked to rebound in singles and put together a solid effort. Comella rallied from a first-set loss versus Karoline Haller of Wright State, taking a 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 win at the top spot for the Orange and Brown.
Sophomore Polina Radeva won her first set against the Raiders' Culbertson at the No. 3 spot, 6-4 her opponent came back to win the second set, 4-6. Radeva recorded another point for BG when she captured the third set, 7-5 to take the match.
Up a set 7-6(3), freshman Ayumi Sasaki dropped the second set 2-6 to Harley Morgan of Wright State. Sasaki made a third set comeback 6-4 over Morgan to pick up a point for the Falcons.
The Falcons will stay in Dayton, Ohio to face the Dayton Flyers (Feb. 12) at 3 p.m.
