Falcons Snap Dayton's Three-Match Win Streak With 4-3 Victory Sunday

Dayton, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis team rebounded from its loss Saturday evening with a 4-3 victory over Dayton Sunday afternoon at the Five Seasons Sports Park. The Falcons snapped the Flyers three-match win streak with the win.
"I'm extremely happy with the way we played this weekend," head coach Stephanie Dalmacio said. "It was a well-deserved win after so much fight and effort from the girls."
The Orange and Brown seized the early advantage by claiming the doubles point for the first time this season.
The team of sophomore Paula Comella and freshman Marharita-Sophia Tavpash kicked off doubles with a 6-1 win versus Mattea Kilstofte and Marlys Bridgham. With the win, Comella and Tavpash improve their record to 3-2 at the No. 1 spot.
Sophomore Polina Radeva and freshman Ayumi Sasaki clinched the doubles point for the Falcons with a 6-4 victory over Mandy Marchant and Jade Kawamoto.
The Flyers would jump ahead 2-1 after picking up wins on courts five and six.
Comella recorded the next point for BG, taking down Bridgham in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3. It was Comella's second win on the weekend at the No. 1 spot for the Orange and Brown.
Picking up her first win this season, Tavpash made quick work at the two slot, defeating Alex Townsend by a score of 7-5, 6-4, to push the lead to 3-2 for the Falcons.
BGSU clinched the match when Radeva defeated Kawamoto 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 at the number 3 position.
The Falcons return to action Friday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. against Detroit at the Perrysburg Tennis Center in Perrysburg, Ohio.
