Falcons Fall At Michigan State, 4-0

East Lansing, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University tennis team fell to Michigan State, 4-0 Saturday afternoon at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.

"We had a very strong start on doubles on both courts but let it slip away in the last couple of games," head coach Stephanie Dalmacio said. "We couldn't stay in it mentally for singles unfortunately. We've already seen improvements and will keep pushing on from here."

In doubles, the Falcons fell behind early as sophomore Paula Comella and freshman Marharita-Sophia Tavpash dropped a 6-4 decision to Erin Faulkner and Emily Metcalf.

The Orange and Brown pair of sophomore Polina Radeva and freshman Ayumi Sasaki were up 4-3 against Allie Baer and Aslina Chua at the No. 2 spot. The match was halted when the Spartans captured the doubles point leaving the score at 5-4 in Michigan State's favor.

In singles, both Radeva and Tavpash battled at No. 2 and No. 4 for the Falcons. Radeva took the first set versus Davina Nguyen, 7-6 (7-5). Tavpash suffered a first set loss to Aslina Chua, 6-2. The freshman rallied in the second set and was up 3-1. Unfortunately, both matches were stopped due to Michigan State clinching their fourth point to claim the match.

The Falcons will travel to Dayton, Ohio to face Wright State (Feb. 11) and Dayton (Feb. 12) before returning home for a match against Detroit (Feb. 17).
