March 11, 2017 | Women's Swimming & Diving
Final Results
Blumington, IN – Two underclassman represented the Falcons at the 2017 NCAA "C" Diving Zone Championships, giving and exciting end to the 2016-17 season.
Sophomore, Claire Stam and freshman, Talisa Lemke competed in both the three and one-meter events. During the preliminary session, Stam scored a 226.90 to place 35th, while Lemke scored a total of 252.60 points to place 16th and qualify to the final round.
During finals, Lemke performed six more dives and moved up in the rankings. A score of 518.40 was enough to earn the freshman a 15th place finish and bring home a memorable finish to the 2016-17 season for the women's swimming and diving program.
Second year head coach, Matt Ense, commented: "Our divers competed very well and once again, Claire improved on last year's one-meter performance in both score and place. That shows great signs for the future. Talisa came on real strong at the end of the one-meter preliminaries to qualify for finals, and finished very strong by placing 15th overall. It was great to see them compete with the best divers in the country for the past two days. Having Olympians diving in front of each of the girls was something special. Coach Phil did an amazing job preparing them for this event. Talisa and Claire gaining this experience will lead to great things for our program moving forward".
After a great performance from our divers, the swimming and diving 2016-17 season comes to an end for the Falcons. Keep up with the team as they prepare for the 2017-18 season.
