Rodriguez Leads the Falcon Invitational With a First Round of 73

First Round Results
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green women's golf program opened the seventh annual Dolores Black Falcon Invitational with a team score of 318, +30 in the first round to sit in a tie for third overall in the 10-team competition.
Sophomore Erin Fahey led the Falcons with a first round score of 77, +5. The Austin, Texas native notched two consecutive birdies in the first day of competition, when she shot a three and four on holes six and seven, respectively. Additionally, Fahey also earned 10 par scores on the day to currently sit in a tie for ninth overall.
In her ninth event of the season, freshman Jessica Madry carded a score of 79, +7 on the first 18-holes of the tournament to sit in a tie for 13th overall. A native of Houston, Texas, Madry hit a birdie on the par 3 fifth hole after sinking the birdie with just two strokes.
Making her fourth appearance of the season was sophomore Julia Durkin, who marked a round of 80, +8. Durkin finished out the first day of action on a high note by earning her second birdie of the day on the 18th hole with three strokes on the par 4 hole.
Junior Miranda Dubler made her debut in the team lineup by carding an opening round score of 82, +10, and was consistent over the course of the first 18-holes by notching 11 par scores. Similarly, junior Madelynn Swank marked a score of 82, +10 by sinking a birdie early on the second hole, and followed it up with a total of seven par scores.
Highlighting the Falcons in individual play was senior Fran Rodriguez, who currently sits tied for first overall of 60 players with a first round score of 73, +1. The mark is a season-best for the Flower Mound, Texas native, and was hit by a total of two birdies, including a score of two on the par 3 16th hole. Rodriguez also earned 13 par scores on the day.
Also competing individually is sophomore Sarah Kern, who rounded out the first day by carding an 85, +13. The Springboro, Ohio native sunk two birdies on the day, both on par 3 holes, and paired it with four par scores.
The Bowling Green women's golf program will round out the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational tomorrow in a 9 a.m. shotgun start for the second and final round of the 36-hole tournament.
