Falcons Post Highest Finish of the Year at Dolores Black Falcon Invitational

Final Results
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – After a strong second round of play at the seventh annual Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, the Bowling Green women's golf team became the runner-up with a 36-hole score of 630, +54. The team's second place finish is the highest of the year for the Falcons and is the best finish in the Falcon Invitational since the team claimed the title in 2008. Bowling Green shaved six strokes off the first round score of 318 to card a 312 in today's competition, and had two Falcons finish in the top ten.
Earning the highest individual finish of the year for the Bowling Green women's golf program was sophomore Erin Fahey, who ultimately tied for third overall in a field of 60 players. Fahey improved in the second day of play by marking a 76 in the windy second round for a two-day total of 153, +9. The Austin, Texas native earned three birdies, 22 pars and led the Falcons by averaging 4.88, -1 on par 5 scoring.
By shooting a 77 in the second round of action, freshman Jessica Madry earned her highest individual finish of her career by a score of 156, +12. Madry cut two strokes off of her first round of 79 to finish in a tie for sixth overall, and marked a tournament-leading 24 par scores over the course of the two days of action. Additionally, the Houston, Texas native led the Falcons on par 4 scoring by averaging a 4.20, +4.
In her fourth event of the season, sophomore Julia Durkin earned one of just two eagles in the tournament when she sunk the par 4 ninth hole in just two strokes. A native of Miramar, Fla., Durkin cut two strokes off of her total score from the first to second round when she carded a 78 in today's play, for a two-day total of 158, +14. The mark earned Durkin her highest finish of the season when she placed 11th overall.
For her first appearance in the team lineup this season, junior Miranda Dubler finished in a tie for 22nd overall by a score of 163, +19. A native of Mason, Ohio, Dubler lowered her score from yesterday's 82 by carding an 81 in today's competition. Over the course of the Falcon Invitational, the junior tallied two birdies paired with 19 par scores, while the round of 81 marks a new season-best.
Rounding out the team lineup was junior Madelynn Swank, who was consistent throughout the tournament and carded two rounds of 82 for a total of 164, +20. By earning one birdie each day, the Clarendon Hills, Ill. native marked a total of two in the two-day tournament, and ultimately finished in a tie for 27th overall.
In individual play, senior Fran Rodriguez excelled in the first round by leading the field with a round of 73. She followed it up with an 88 in today's action, to finish in a tie for 18th overall by a score of 161, +17. The round of 73 is a season-best for the Flower Mound, Texas native, while she earned a total of three birdies and 18 par scores in the 36-hole competition, in addition to going even on par 5 scoring.
Sophomore Sarah Kern rounded out the Falcon Invitational with a total score of 174, +30 by rounds of 85 and 89 while competing as an individual. A native of Springboro, Ohio, Kern averaged 3.50, +4 on par 3 scoring over the course of the tournament, and the round of 85 marks her lowest score since the Dayton Fall Invitational in October 2016.
Ohio claimed the team title of the seventh annual Dolores Black Falcon Invitational by a total team score of 615, +39, while the Bobcat's Hailey Hrynewich won the individual title by a score of 145, +1 with rounds of 73 and 72.
Up next, the Bowling Green women's golf program will travel to the Cleveland State-hosted Pine Hills Shootout on Friday, April 14, and will round out the regular season at Ohio's Spring Challenge Cup on Saturday, April 15.
