Falcons Conclude Non-Conference Schedule At MTSU

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Bowling Green State University football team wrapped up non-conference play with a 24-13 loss to Middle Tennessee State University. The game was played at MTSU's Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The Falcons held the Blue Raiders to just three second-half points, but a 21-10 halftime deficit was too much for the Falcons to overcome.

Bowling Green falls to 0-4 on the season with the loss, while Middle Tennessee improves to 2-2. True freshman quarterback Jarret Doege got the start for the Falcons, playing the entire game and completing 21-of-35 passes for 283 yards for one touchdown and zero interceptions.
OFFENSE
-- Jarret Doege became the first true freshman quarterback to start a game for BGSU since Brian McClure in 1982.
-- Doege finished the first half with 200 passing yards, while completing 15-of-20 pass attempts.
-- Scott Miller, who hauled in a 60-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter, finished the game with a season-high eight receptions for a season-best 112 yards.
-- Receiver Teo Redding also set season highs in catches (5) and yards (71).
-- Josh Cleveland had 38 rushing yards and 32 receiving yards.
-- Datrin Guyton added four receptions for 29 yards.
-- Bowling Green averaged 8.1 yards per pass attempt and 13.5 per completion.

-- Marcus Milton recorded the second interception of his career. The interception was also Bowling Green's first interception of the 2017 season.
-- Armani Posey recorded a career-high 11 tackles. Coming into the game, Posey had 10 tackles for his career.
-- Fred Garth also posted 11 tackles for the Orange and Brown. The 11 tackles were a career high for Garth, as well.
-- Brandon Harris added nine tackles for Bowling Green.
-- Kyle Junior had 1.5 tackles for loss, including a 0.5 sack, on top of a fumble recovery.
-- Nate Locke had a fumble recovery and 1.0 tackle for loss.
-- Gus Schwieterman had 1.0 tackle for loss, while David Konowalski had a 0.5 sack.
