Aliyah Gustafson Named MAC Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

Cleveland, Ohio – Redshirt senior track and field thrower Aliyah Gustafson was named the Mid-American Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week after breaking BGSU's school record in the shot put Saturday at the Doug Raymond Invitational.
Boasting a 4.0 grade point average in Human Movement and Sport Leisure Studies (HSMLS), Gustafson broke her own school record in the shot put with a throw of 16.55m (54-feet-3.75). That distance leads the MAC and ranks 10th nationally in the event. On top of that, Gustafson placed second in the weight throw at 19.02m (62-5), a distance that places her among the top 35 in the nation.
Gustafson is a four-time Academic All-MAC performer and an honorable mention All-American after qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in 2016. It is the second time in her career that she has been named MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
