Falcons Swimming and Diving Open MAC Season At Home Versus Ball State

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team will host Ball State for a dual meet to begin their 2018 Mid-American Conference campaign. The meet will be held at Cooper Pool, and is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. 16 events will be contested between the Falcon and Cardinals swimmers and divers.

The 2018-19 Women's Swimming and Diving Coaches Preseason Poll predicts a fifth place finish for the Falcons in the regular season. In the 2017-18 season, The Falcons finished 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the MAC, and ultimately captured fifth place in the MAC Championships.

Ball State were picked to finished last in the preseason poll. Cardinals swimming and diving recently competed in the Indiana Intercollegiate meet, in which the women's squad finished second from six programs invited to the meet.

The Falcons will enter Friday's contest with a current overall record of 3-0, after defeating Saint Francis on the road (163-78), and defeating both the University of Findlay (215-85) and Northern Michigan (192-108) in a double-dual meet at home. This will be Rickey Perkins' fourth official meet as the latest BGSU Swimming and Diving head coach.

"The meet should be fun. Again, out focus will be on doing the little things correctly. If we continue to keep our focus on the things we can control, we can win the meet. I am excited to start the MAC competition and can't wait until Friday to see what we can do."

BGSU Swimming and Diving will compete in a series of non-conference meets before resuming their MAC schedule on Jan. 31 versus the Akron Zips. Up first, the Falcons will travel to Cincinnati on Nov. 2. for a dual meet at Xavier.
