
Stifling Defense, Special Teams Trickery Leads Falcons To Comeback Win

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University football team held Central Michigan to 29 yards of offense in the second half, and used special teams trickery, to overcome a 13-0 deficit in a 24-13 win Saturday afternoon at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

- Jarret Doege completed13-of-23 passes for 113 yards. He threw one touchdown pass.
- Andrew Clair had 12 carries for 82 yards, averaging 6.8 yards per carry and one rushing touchdown. His longest rush of the day was a 29-yard touchdown that got the Falcons on the board on the first drive of the second half.
- Rico Frye had 12 carries for 51 yards, averaging 3.8 yards per carry. His longest rush on the day was for 27 yards.
- Scott Miller had seven receptions for 73 yards, giving him an average of 10.4 yards per catch. His second catch of the day on Bowling Green's touchdown drive to open the made him just the fifth player in program history with 200 career receptions.
- Dorian Hendrix caught an eight-yard touchdown pass, giving him touchdown receptions in back-to-back games.

DEFENSIVE NOTES
- In the fourth quarter Karl Brooks forced a fumble at the CMU two-yard line. Kyle Junior would scoop and score a TD helping secure a win for the Falcons. It was the team's first fumble recovery for a touchdown since Brandon Harris returned a fumble 93 yards for a touchdown against Miami a year ago.
- Marcus Milton iced the contest with an interception late in the fourth quarter, the eighth of his career.
- Brandon Harris record eight tackles, including one key sack for a loss of eight yards.
- Jerry McBride III recorded six tackles on the afternoon.
- Jonah Harper had 2.0 tackles for loss and five total tackles as the Falcons recorded 5.0 tackles for loss on the day.
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES
- Matt Naranjo punted three times for 109 yards, averaging 36.3 yards per punt. Naranjo had a long of 43 yards.
- Charles Lamar blocked a first half punt. It was the team's first blocked punt since 2014.
- Nate Needham made all three of his extra points and a field goal for 20 yards.
- Trailing 13-0 at the half, Bowling Green used a fake punt to set up its first touchdown. On fourth and two, Dorian Hendrix ran 24 yards and the Falcons posted a 29-yard Andrew Clair TD one play later.
- After that touchdown, BGSU employed an onside kick and recovered it. The Falcons would score a touchdown on the ensuing possession to take the lead for good.
- Bowling Green also attempted a fake field goal in the fourth quarter, though the measurement showed the BGSU came up just short on the attempt.
- Cedric Mitchell made two special teams recoveries on the day. He recovered the first half blocked punt, as well as the successful onsides kick.

- "I told Coach Doege, let's not leave any bullets in the gun this week. I want a fake field goal, I want a fake punt. I want to play to win. It was executed perfectly and it really got us rolling."
- "Our defensive line has been coming along all year despite so many injuries. I expected this kind of defensive performance today."
- "They've done everything you could ask of young men. They've faced a lot of adversity this year. A lot of injuries, a lot of new faces who weren't playing early in the year. Yet, they persisted. It's a great life lesson to just keep fighting."

- Bowling Green will travel to InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field to take on the Akron Zips. Kick-off is slated for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 17.
