Falcons Fall To Lake Superior State In Game One Of Weekend Series

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The No. 10 ranked Bowling Green State University hockey team failed to score against Lake Superior State on Friday (Nov. 16), despite having 30 shots on goal. The Lakers took advantage of power plays en route to a 5-0 win, with two power play goals and two four-on-four goals. The Falcons have another shot at Lake Superior State on Saturday (Nov. 17) when they close the two game weekend series. Puck drop for game two is at 7:07pm.

Scoring Plays
- Lake Superior State first struck a goal coming with 4:31 left in the first period. After ringing a shot off the post, Ashton Calder took another swing on the rebound that found the back of the net. Assists were credited to Diego Cuglietta and Collin Saccoman.
- At 14:55 in the second period, Lake Superior State capitalized on a 4v4 opportunity with a goal from William Riedell to give them a 2-0 lead. Gage Torrel and Hampus Eriksson picked up assists on the score.
- In the third period, Lake Superior State took advantage of a power play, adding to their lead with 14:35 left. The goal from Lukas Kaelble, his first of the season, put the Lakers up, 3-0. Max Humitz earned the assist.
- The Lakers added another power play goal with 9:59 remaining in the game. Anthony Nellis found the top shelf after being assisted by Max Humitz, his second assist of the game, and Lukas Kaelble.
- Lake Superior State tacked on another goal in 4v4 play late in the third period. Collin Saccoman scored and was assisted by Alexandro Ambrosio and Brayden Gelsinger.
Falcon Stat Facts
- The Falcons registered 30 or more shots on goal for the fourth time this season, with exactly 30 on the night. This was the first time they did so at home. They had over 30 when they traveled to Western Michigan (36), Ohio State (33), and Alaska Anchorage (33).
- Bowling Green only allowed 17 shots on goal, the third fewest on the season. They only allowed 15 in a shutout win over Robert Morris at home and 13 in a loss to Northern Michigan at home.

- The Falcons and Lakers will conclude their two game weekend series on Saturday (Nov. 17) with a scheduled puck drop of 7:07 pm. The game will include the season's first Teddy Bear Toss at the Slater Family Ice Arena. Following the series with Lake Superior State, BGSU will travel to Plymouth, Mich. on Nov. 21 when they play an exhibition game with the U.S. Under-18 Team.
