>>FALCONS ON TAP
- The No. 12 ranked Bowling Green State University hockey team returns to WCHA play this weekend as they will go on the road to face-off with the Chargers of The University of Alabama in Huntsville.
- The Falcons and Chargers will face-off for game one at 7:07pm ET on Saturday Dec. 1, and then for game two on Sunday Dec. 2, at 4:07pm ET. Both games will be played in the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
- These are the first two of four meetings between the schools this season, as Alabama Huntsville will travel to Bowling Green for the final series of the regular season on March 1-2, 2019.
>>VERSUS ALABAMA HUNTSVILLE
- All-time, Bowling Green holds a 22-5-2 advantage over Alabama Huntsville.
- In four meetings last season, the Falcons outscored Alabama Huntsville by a slight 11-7 mark for a 2-1-1 record in the 2017-18 campaign.
- Though struggling early on this, season the UAH Chargers enter this matchup having posted their first win of the season defeating Alaska 3-1 on Nov. 16.
>>LAST TIME OUT
- The Bowling Green State University hockey team enters this matchup having posted an 8-3-2 record on the year thus far. They hold a 3-2-1-1 record in conference play following their first three WCHA series with Northern Michigan, Alaska Anchorage and Lake Superior State.
- LSSU took advantage of power plays on route to a 5-0 win over Bowling Green on Friday (Nov. 16) night.
- The Falcons then rebounded to beat Lake Superior State by a final score of 5-2 on Saturday (Nov. 17) night, splitting the weekend series.
- The Falcons were led by Alec Rauhauser, who had two goals early to set the tone for BGSU. These were his first two goals of the 2018-19 campaign, and the first multi-goal game of his career.
- He was joined by freshmen Will Cullen and Taylor Schneider in the scoring column, as well as a late goal from Frederic Letourneau with an empty netter to seal the Falcons' victory.
- Will Cullen's goal in the third period was the first of his career for the Orange and Brown, with Schneider and Letourneau each picking up their second of the season.
- Bowling Green then traveled to Plymouth, Michigan on Wednesday (Nov. 21) night to play an exhibition game against the U.S.A. Hockey National Developmental Program's Under-18 team. The Falcons scored five times on 42 shots on goal, winning the contest 5-4.
- Stephen Baylis would open the scoring before Sam Craggs and Shane Bednard would extend the Falcons' lead to 3-0 in the second period. Team USA would battle back cutting the deficit to one goal twice in the third period. Max Johnson and Lukas Craggs would each net goals in the third period keeping the Falcons ahead.
>>STATISTICAL STANDOUTS
- The Bowling Green Falcons continue to lead the nation in team defense posting the lowest goals against per game average in college hockey of 1.69.
- In addition to team defense, Bowling Green's penalty kill remains impressive sitting fifth in the nation with a PK percentage of .882. This unit is also tied for first in shorthanded goals with four.
- Entering this series against Alabama Huntsville, Bowling Green has maintained pace offensively, outscoring their opponents by a total of 47 to 22. This has the Falcons sitting ninth overall in team offense, posting a goals per game average of 3.62.
- With his pair goals in last Saturday's (Nov. 17) 5-2 win over Lake Superior State, Alec Rauhauser recorded the first multi-goal game of his career with the Orange and Brown. This was his fourth multi-point game of the 2018-19 season, and number 16 of his career.
- The Falcon freshmen continue to produce this season having scored a combined 15 points for Bowling Green going into this series. Most recently Will Cullen tallied a multi-point game scoring his first career goal for the Orange and Brown. Cullen's goal was the game winner.
- Cullen also connected with Taylor Schneider later in the game for a BGSU insurance goal. Taylor Schneider is one of two freshman with multiple goals thus far with three. He is joined by Tim Theocharidis with two as of now.
- With its 23-12-6 overall record, 2017-18 marked the fourth consecutive season that the Falcons have reached the 20-win milestone. The four-year stint is the third longest in program history, behind a nine season, and six season stretch.
>>NATIONALLY RANKED
- The Bowling Green Falcons are currently ranked No. 12 in the most recent USCHO.com poll (Nov. 26).
- While down slightly from their season high this year (No. 9 on Oct. 29), this is the highest Bowling Green hockey has been ranked since March 16, 2015 when the Falcons were ranked No. 9. The last time BGSU was ranked higher than No. 9 was February 16, 2015 when they were No. 8.
 >>PRESEASON POLLS PEG BOWLING GREEN
- Bowling Green was voted to finish second overall in the UAHhockey.com WCHA Media preseason poll, and third in the 2018 Mankato Free Press preseason poll.
- Junior Falcon defenseman Alec Rauhauser was voted First Team All-WCHA by both the media and the coaches. Rauhuaser's contributions to the 2017-18 campaign included leading the squad with 39 points by nine goals and a team-leading 30 assists. The 39 points marked the most by a single Falcon since the 2008-09 season.Â
- Three more Falcons were voted Second Team All-WCHA by the media. Sophomore forward Brandon Kruse, senior defenseman Chris Pohlkamp and junior goaltender Ryan Bednard all made the cut.
>>2018-19 FALCON HOCKEY OUTLOOK
- For the upcoming season, the Falcons will look to return 12 of 16 forwards, all seven defensemen, and all three goaltenders from the 2017-18 campaign that saw the Falcons claim a Great Lakes Invitational Championship.
- Bowling Green garnered 159 points in the media preseason poll, and 76 points in the coaches'. The Falcons also had one vote for the top finish on the year in the media preseason poll.

 >>COMING INTO THIS SEASON
- With an overall record of 23-12-6 in 2017-18, it marked the Falcons' fourth consecutive 20+ win season and fifth straight winning season. Bowling Green had records 21-18-2 in the 2016-17 campaign, 22-14-6 in the 2015-16 campaign, and a 23-11-5 record in the 2014-15 season. Last year was the 22nd season that the Falcons have tallied a 20-plus win season.
- By competing in the WCHA Championship at the end of the 2016-17 season, it marked Bowling Green's first conference championship appearance since 1988.
