Craggs, Gustafson Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week
December 03, 2018 | General, Ice Hockey, Women's Track and Field
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Lukas Craggs and track and field student-athlete Aliyah Gustafson.
Male Athlete of the Week
Lukas Craggs, a junior from Elmhurst, Ill., led the way for Bowling Green, scoring two goals on Saturday and the game winner on Sunday to help the Falcons sweep Alabama Huntsville. His first goal came Saturday as he would take a great pass behind the net and wrap-around to score on UAH goaltender Sinclair through the five hole 12:20 into the second period. He would then bring the puck up the left wing side and score at 16:46 into the third period to net the Falcons' sixth goal. His third goal on Sunday saw Craggs score a backhander to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead just 48 seconds into the third.Â
Female Athlete of the Week
Aliyah Gustafson, a redshirt senior from Iowa City, Iowa, opened the 2018-19 season by winning both the weight throw and the shot put at the BG Opener. Gustafson's shot put distance of 50-feet-6.25 ranks No. 2 in the country in the early stages of the season and her weight throw performance of 62-feet-4 is ninth nationally. Gustafson is a three-time All-American in the shot put, including both indoor and outdoor a year ago.
