Buffalo Beats Bowling Green On Friday Night

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team was not able to overcome a tremendous three-point shooting display by the University at Buffalo on Friday (Feb. 16) night, as the MAC-leading Bulls went 12-for-20 from downtown to beat the Falcons, 95-82, at UB's Alumni Arena.
The Falcons trailed by 15 at the half, before cutting the UB lead to just three points in the second half. However, Buffalo shot 51.6 percent (33-of-64) for the game to pull away from the Falcons late in the game.
Bowling Green shot 41.3 percent (26-of-63) from the floor, and 25.0 percent (5-of-20) from three-point territory. The Falcons were an excellent 25-of-29 (86.2 percent) from the free throw line.
PLAYER NOTES
• Junior forward Demajeo Wiggins registered his 12th double-double of the season, as he finished with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Wiggins posted six double-doubles all last season.
• Wiggins has pulled down 15-plus rebounds in five games in 2017-18.
• Redshirt-freshman guard Justin Turner posted 23 points, marking his ninth 20-point game of the season. Turner also had three rebounds, one assist and one block.
• Turner is just 26 points shy of breaking the BGSU freshman scoring record, which is currently held by Anthony Stacey, who scored 433 points in 2017-18. Turner is on pace to finish the regular season with 471 points.
• Freshman forward Derek Koch finished one rebound shy of the second double-double of his career. Koch posted 12 points, nine rebounds, two assists and one block.
• Koch has posted multiple assists in 11 game in 2017-18.
• After scoring in double figures three times in non-conference play, Koch has scored 10-plus points a total of four times in MAC play.
• Junior guard Antwon Lillard posted eight points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal.
• Lillard has racked up multiple assists in six-consecutive games.
• Sophomore guard Dylan Frye recorded eight points and three assists.
• Senior guard Matt Fox went 1-for-1 from the floor, and 4-for-4 from the free throw line to finish with seven points, two rebounds and one steal.
• Fox upped his MAC-leading three-point percentage up to 49.2 percent (33-of-67).
• Sophomore guard Rodrick Caldwell finished the game with five points and one assist.
• Freshman forward Daeqwon Plowden contributed with four points, one rebound and one steal, while fellow freshman Nelly Cummings scored two points.
