Kendall McCoy scored 13 of her game-high 25 points in the opening quarter, hitting all five of her shots, including three from the arc. Miami (18-9, 10-6 MAC) was 9-of-13 from the field in that period.
Â
Lauren Dickerson and Leah Purvis each had 17 points for the hosts, with Dickerson also recording a game-high eight assists, while Savannah Kluesner rounded out MU's double-figure scorers with 10 points.
Â
For the Falcons, junior Sydney Lambert scored 15 points, while sophomore Andrea Cecil had 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
QUOTING COACH ROOS
"I thought we shot the ball well in the first quarter, but Miami came out on fire in that first quarter. But, we made some mistakes defensively that gave them open looks as opposed to contested looks from the outside. We had to play from behind, and had a chance to cut it to single digits late in the second quarter, but were unable to do so."
Â
"(Lauren) Dickerson made some big shots at the buzzer, which took the wind out of our sails when we had a chance to gain some momentum. We came out and played a better third quarter, but after the slow start and trying to fight back all game, we didn't have enough left in the tank to make one more late push."

FIRST-QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
- The Falcons scored on each of the first two possessions, as senior Haley Puk assisted on both buckets. First, Puk dished the ball to freshman Angela Perry for a jumper. Then, after Kendall McCoy hit a three-pointer at the other end, Puk followed her own miss, grabbed the rebound and fed junior Sydney Lambert for a three-pointer and an early 5-3 lead.
- But, the RedHawks scored on seven-straight possessions to begin the game, opening up a 17-7 lead. McCoy scored 11 of those 17 MU points, capped by a long three-pointer with 6:29 left in the period.
- Puk hit her second driving layup of the game, but Lauren Dickerson answered with a three-pointer and a 20-9 Miami lead.
- Puk drove again, this time drawing a foul and knocking down both free throws midway through the period. Puk scored six of the Falcons' first 11 points of the day. But, with just over three minutes left in the quarter, Puk was charged with her second foul of the game, joining Perry with two fouls, and both players checked out of the game.
- Sophomore Andrea Cecil hit a driving layup, then fed classmate Caterrion Thompson for a right-side triple. And, junior Carly Santoro came up with a steal and bucket. But, the Falcons could not cut into the Miami lead, as the RedHawks repeatedly answered the BG baskets.
- Santoro hit a nifty driving banker in the final minute, and BG got a stop as the period ended with Miami up by a 30-20 score.
SECOND-QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
- McCoy hit another three-pointer to open the second-period scoring, before Caterrion Thompson hit a jumper in the paint, and sophomore Jane Uecker came up with an offensive rebound and a nifty shot inside. BG's deficit was down to nine points.
- But, after a near turnover by Miami, the ball bounced directly to Kayla Brown, who picked it up and knocked down a three-pointer. That shot began a 12-1 run for the RedHawks, and when Baleigh Reid converted a three-point play at the 4:19 mark, the home team led, 45-25.
- BG went on a 7-0 run, as Cecil rebounded a miss and hit a layup, Perry banked home a shot after a nice spin move, and Lambert drilled a three-point try.
- But, after more than two scoreless minutes, Dickerson hit a three just before the half ended, putting the 'Hawks ahead, 48-32.
THIRD-QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
- Miami scored the first four points of the period, but BGSU then proceeded to hit three three-pointers in 81 seconds. Perry knocked down a trey from the right wing, and Cecil grabbed a defensive rebound on the run, pulled up and hit a shot from the arc. McCoy scored at the other end, but Perry kicked the ball out to Lambert for a three-ball from in front of the BG bench. The Falcons were within 13, at 54-41.
- The score remained the same as two BG layup tries rolled around the rim and out. Finally, the RedHawks scored to go ahead by 15. Lambert hit a corner three, but McCoy knocked down a foul-line jumper for a 58-44 Miami lead.
- Caterrion Thompson hit a tough shot at the shot-clock buzzer, but twice, the Falcons were called for a foul on a Miami missed shot, and the ball stayed with the RedHawks. Finally, a three-point play gave the hosts a 61-46 lead with 2:04 left in the period.
- Cecil came right back with a three-pointer, and Perry scored inside. Each time, though, Miami answered, as Leah Purvis hit a triple and Molly McDonagh scored on a putback.
- Lambert canned a jumper with 30 seconds left in the quarter, but once again, Dickerson knocked down a three just before the buzzer, and the Miami lead was 16 points after 30 minutes.
FOURTH-QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS
- Miami scored the first seven points of the period to open up a 23-point advantage. Caterrion Thompson got a deflection, went to the floor to grab the ball, then fired a pass to Santoro for an easy layup at the 6:01 mark, but the RedHawks continued to extend the lead.
- Freshman Kennedy Williams had a steal and layup with under three minutes left, then knocked down a three-point try just 36 seconds later. Freshman Madisen Parker and junior Maddie Cole each made two free throws over the remainder of the quarter, but could not cut into the Miami lead.
