The Academic All-MAC Team honor is bestowed upon a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
Bowling Green, as mentioned, tied for the highest total among conference institutions for the second-straight season, with eight student-athletes chosen to the Academic All-MAC Team. Miami and Northern Illinois each had eight student-athletes named to the team as well, while Buffalo had seven, Kent State six, Western Michigan five, Akron, Central Michigan, Ohio and Toledo four apiece, Ball State two and Eastern Michigan one.
It bears repeating that the Falcons have led the conference or tied for the league lead in Academic All-MAC Team members in each of the last 10 years. Over the last four seasons, BG's total of 27 Academic All-MAC Team honorees is four higher than any other conference school.
