Lambert, Parker Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week
April 16, 2018 | Baseball, General, Softball
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball player Neil Lambert and softball player Kaylee Parker.
Male Athlete of the Week
Neil Lambert, a junior from Pontiac, Ill., turned in a nice offensive week in Bowling Green's two-game week. Lambert went 3-for-7 (.428) with one run, two RBI and two walks. In the midweek contest versus Youngstown State, Lambert went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one walk. In BGSU's one conference game this weekend at Western Michigan, the junior went 1-for-3 with one run and one walk. The Falcons are back in action at Steller Field this Tuesday (April 16) against Kent State in non-conference action.
Female Athlete of the Week
Kaylee Parker, a junior from Lufkin, Texas, hit a team-best .545 as the Falcons won three of four games on the week. Parker was 6-for-11 at the plate as BGSU split with Miami before scoring 18 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Buffalo. After drawing a walk in three plate appearances in the first game of the week, Parker went 6-for-9 in the final three games -- all wins. She was 2-for-3 with a run scored in BG's 4-1 win over MU, then was a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk, a double and a run in the Falcons' 7-3 win at Buffalo. In the second game at UB, Parker was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer as BG posted an 11-1, run-rule victory.
