Falcons Excel In Friday Action
April 27, 2018 | Women's Track and Field
Louisville, Ky. and Hillsdale, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University track and field team posted a handful of personal bests in limited action Friday. The distance runners are competing at the Gina Relays, hosted by Hillsdale College, while the remainder of the team takes part in the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational at Louisville.
Redshirt sophomore Allie Farmer took the biggest step of the day, vaulting into the top 10 in the Mid-American Conference rankings in the hammer throw. Senior Kyla Paster also posted a personal best in the long jump.
HAMMER TIME
- At the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational, BGSU had four student-athletes compete in the hammer throw.
- While Aliyah Gustafson (184-4) and Elizabeth Iversen (177-6) posted the top results of the day, redshirt sophomore Allie Farmer made the biggest jump forward for the Falcons.
- Farmer tossed the hammer 172-5 (52.56m), which was a personal best by more than six feet and a season-best by almost 11 feet. Her prior PR came at the 2016 Jesse Owens Classic when she threw 166-1.
- Entering the weekend, only seven throwers in the MAC had thrown further than Farmer did Friday, two of which were her teammates Gustafson and Iversen.
OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- Kyla Paster set a new personal best in the long jump with a leap of 18-feet-11.25 (5.77m). That jump puts her among the top 10 in the MAC and moves her to ninth in school history.
- Redshirt senior Rachel Durbin ran the 5000 for the first time in her career Thursday night in the open field. She placed ninth out of 104 runners with a time of 17:38.97.
IN COACH LOU SNELLING'S WORDS
