Men's And Women's Cross Country Announce 2018 Schedules

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University's men's and women's cross country teams have announced their 2018 schedules, featuring the annual Mel Brodt Collegiate Invitational on the campus of BGSU.
The Mel Brodt Collegiate Invitational will take place Sept. 7 at BGSU. The meet is named after longtime BGSU cross country and track and field coach Mel Brodt. Brodt retired in 1984 after 25 years as Bowling Green's cross country coach and 20 seasons as men's head track coach. In total, he coached 53 Divison I All-Americans, five collegiate record holders, 92 MAC Champions and two MAC Championship teams in cross country (1969) and track (1972). He was Coach of the Year at the 1972 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, the 1972 NCAA District IV Cross Country meet and at the 1983 MAC Cross Country Championship.
The season opens at the Toledo Rockets Invitational Aug. 31 and the men will compete Sept. 15 at the John McNichols Invitational, hosted by Indiana State. On Sept. 29, both teams run at the Greater Louisville Classic before competing at the Bradley Pink Classic Oct. 12 to round out the regular season. The University of Toledo will host the MAC Championships Oct. 27 and the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships will be hosted by Indiana State Nov. 9. The NCAA Championships will be held at Wisconsin Nov. 17.
