Preseason Polls Place Cross Country Teams In Top Half

Cleveland, Ohio - In light of the men and women's cross country seasons starting tomorrow, the Mid-American Conference has released its preseason poll, placing both Falcon teams in the top half of their respective standings.
Eastern Michigan, once again, topped the women's rankings heading into the season. The Eagles received six of the 11 first place votes (one coach abstained). As for the men's, Miami took the top spot with eight of the nine votes, with all coaches participating.
In the women's poll, Bowling Green was pinned to finish fifth of twelve. Ahead of the Falcons is Eastern Michigan, followed by Toledo, who received four first place votes, Miami, who received one vote and Northern Illinois. Rounding out the preseason poll is Buffalo, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Ohio, Akron, Ball State, and Kent State.
For the men's side, the Falcons were placed in fourth with Miami, Eastern Michigan, who received one vote, and Central Michigan above them. Buffalo again followed BGSU with Akron, Ohio, Kent State, and Toledo filling the rest of the list.

Last season the BGSU women's cross country team placed in ninth while the men finished in third. The men's finish was their first top three placing since 1995, when they took first place and won the MAC Championship.
Bowling Green opens their season this Friday, Aug. 31, as they travel up I-75 for the Toledo Rockets Invitational. The women's 4,000m race begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by the men's 6,000m race at 7:00 p.m.
