EUGENE, Ore. – The Bowling Green State University football team opened its 2018 season with a 58-24 loss at No. 24 Oregon on Saturday (Sept. 1) evening in Eugene, Oregon. The game was played in front of 50,112 fans at Oregon's Autzen Stadium.
The Falcons scored the first 10 points of the ballgame, and led by a 10-7 margin after the first quarter. Bowling Green posted 389 yards of total offense on the day and created three turnovers – two on defense and one on special teams.
OFFENSIVE NOTES
• Quarterback Jarret Doege completed 22-of-38 passes for 253 yards and three touchdowns.
• Wide receiver Scott Miller had a career day. Miller posted a career-high 13 catches for a team-high 166 yards. Miller has now gone over 100 yards receiving seven times in his career.
• Running back Andrew Clair totaled 113 yards on a career-high 25 carries. Clair has eclipsed the 100-yard milestone in a game a total of seven times in his young career. Clair also had two receptions for 15 yards and a touchdown.
• Running back Bryson Denley added career highs in carries (12) and yards (36).
• BGSU's running backs combined for 166 yards on 44 carries.
• Wide receiver Quintin Morris registered a career-high three receptions for 35 yards.
• Deric Phouthavong added one reception for 16 yards. RB Marlow III recorded his first-career reception, finishing the game with one reception for 15 yards.
• Bowling Green ran 89 plays compared to Oregon's 68.
• The BGSU offense was a perfect 3-for-3 inside the red zone.
• Wide receiver RB Marlow III and running back Bryson Denley started for the first time in their Falcon careers.
DEFENSIVE NOTES
• The Bowling Green defense created two turnovers on the day, both of which were interceptions.
• Defensive back Marcus Milton registered his sixth-career interception, while defensive back Fred Garth posted his second-career interception.
• Linebacker Brandon Harris led the Falcons with seven tackles.
• Linebackers Kholbe Coleman and Hassan Belton posted five tackles apiece. Belton also notched a tackle for loss.
• Defensive backs Clint Stephens and Jerry McBride -- and defensive linemen Josh Croslen and Roland Walder -- each registered five tackles. Stephens had three pass breakups. Walder recorded BGSU's lone sack.
• Defensive lineman Jonah Harper finished with four tackles and a quarterback hurry.
• Defensive lineman Kyle Junior added a tackle for loss.
• Defensive linemen Roland Walder and Josh Croslen, along with linebacker Kholbe Coleman, made their first-career starts for the Orange and Brown.
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES
• In his Falcon debut, kicker Nate Needham connected on his lone field goal attempt – a 36-yarder. He also went a perfect 3-for-3 on extra point attempts.
• Punter Grant Tinnerman, also in his first-career game, punted the ball six times for 198 yards. He averaged 33.0 yards per punt, and pinned one punt inside the 20.
• Punter Mason Lawler first and only punt on the day went 38 yards. Lawler's BGSU debut came in the fourth quarter.
• Ra'veion Hargrove totaled 88 yards over six kick returns in his first game as a Falcon. By adding in 8 rush yards and six yards receiving, Hargrove racked up 102 all-purpose yards.
• Late in the first half, a Tinnerman 37-yard punt hit an Oregon blocker, and was recovered by Bryson Denley at the Oregon 43-yard line. Bowling Green took advantage, scoring a touchdown on its ensuing possession.

• The Falcons' 2018 home opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 8 versus Maryland.
