Falcons Off To Strong Start At Cardinal Classic

YORKTOWN, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team, after posting team scores of 301 and 302 over 36 holes of action, sits tied for fourth out of 16 schools at the Cardinal Classic. The event is being hosted by Ball State University at The Players Club in Yorktown, Indiana.
Bowling Green's two-round total of 603 is tied with Southern Illinois. Indianapolis (574) leads the tournament heading into tomorrow's final round of golf. Ball State (594) and Bradley (601) sit just ahead the Falcons, as well.
The Falcons were led by freshman Katie Whitfield (145), who sits tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard. Whitfield carded 11 birdies on the day, including a fantastic seven-birdie opening round. After that first-round 73, Whitfield shot an even-par 72 in the second round.
Erin Fahey (150), who is currently tied for 15th, opened the tournament with an even-par round before registering a 78 in round two. Fahey notched five birdies on the day. BGSU's lineup was finished out by Jessica Madry (154), Nichole Cox (156) and Julia Durkin (157). Durkin carded three birdies over the 36 holes. Madry recorded two birdies, while Cox had a birdie in round two.
