Bowling Green Set For Cardinal Classic

YORKTOWN, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University women's golf program continues its fall schedule next week at the Cardinal Classic. The event, which is being hosted by Ball State University, is scheduled to take place over Sept. 17-18.

THE FALCONS AT THE CARDINAL CLASSIC
• The tournament will begin with 36 holes of action on Monday, Sept. 17. Play will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The event will conclude with the final 18 holes of action on Tuesday, Sept. 18. The final round of play will start with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
• The Falcons have competed in this event in each of the last four seasons.
• Last year, BGSU carded a 921 to finish in fourth of 12 schools.
• Bowling Green's best finish came in 2014-15, when the Falcons finished in third.
THE FIELD
• A total of 16 teams will competing at the Cardinal Classic. Indiana is only sending players to compete as individuals.
• The field includes: Ball State (hosts), Bowling Green, Bradley, Central Michigan, Cleveland State, Dayton, Evansville, Illinois State, Indiana State, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Southern Illinois, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Indianapolis, Western Illinois, Western Michigan, Indiana (individuals only).
LAST WEEK AT THE REDBIRD INVITATIONAL
• Last weekend, the Falcons opened the 2018-19 season with a strong fifth-place finish out of 12 schools.
• Bowling Green recorded team rounds of 304-316-304 for a final-total of 924. Northern Illinois placed first by scoring an 882.
• Erin Fahey posted the 13th top-10 finish of her career, as she carded a 225 to finish tied for ninth. Jessica Madry followed closely behind with a 230 to finish tied for 19th.
• BGSU's lineup was rounded out by Julia Durkin (235), Nichole Cox (240) and Katie Whitfield (240), who made her Falcon debut.
• Sammi Blackburn competed as an individual, but turned in a fantastic final-round 72, which was a career low for the sophomore. Blackburn led the Orange and Brown with four round-three birdies.
