Dop, Gustafson Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Eric Dop and track and field student-athlete Aliyah Gustafson.
Male Athlete of the Week
Eric Dop, a sophomore from Lewis Center, Ohio, earned his second career shutout in Bowling Green's 2-0 victory over the Alaska Nanooks on Saturday (Jan. 19). The sophomore from Lewis Center, Ohio made 31 saves over sixty minutes of hockey. This is also the first shutout victory of his career for the Orange and Brown as his first shutout against the UAA Seawolves ended in a 0-0 tie. On Friday night Dop made 19 saves with only two goals scored against him. Alaska would get two more goals on an empty net.
Female Athlete of the Week
Aliyah Gustafson, a redshirt senior from Iowa City, Iowa, won two events in the BGSU/Toledo Dual meet, posting the top marks in the MAC in each event this year. In the shot put, Gustafson tossed the second-best throw in program history, moving to seventh in the country with a distance of 56-feet-2 (17.12m). In the weight throw, Gustafson threw the top distance in the MAC this year at 64-7.25 (19.69m).
