BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team closed non-conference play with an 81-68 victory over the University of Hartford. The contest was played inside the Stroh Center on Tuesday (Dec. 31) afternoon. The Falcons will enter Mid-American Conference play with an overall record of 9-4.
The Falcons are 6-0 at home for just the second time in the history of the Stroh Center. BGSU started last season with a 6-0 mark at home, as well. The Falcons have won 20 of their last 22 games inside the friendly confines of the Stroh Center.
In his return to the court, redshirt-junior guard Justin Turner led the Falcons with 22 points in 21 minutes. Turner, who was on a minutes restriction after coming back from a hamstring injury, went 7-of-13 from the floor.
Bowling Green held Hartford to 36.8 percent (25-of-68) shooting for the game. The Hawks led for just 21 seconds, while BGSU maintained a lead for 35:38 of the game's 40 minutes. The Falcons shot 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from downtown. BGSU went 18-of-21 (85.7 percent) from the charity stripe, and posted a 44.3 (27-of-61) field goal percentage as a team.
The Falcons have posted at least nine non-conference wins a total of three times in the Michael Huger Era. BGSU picked up nine non-conference victories in 2015-16 and 2017-18, as well.

PLAYER NOTES
• Redshirt-junior guard Justin Turner finished the ballgame with 22 points, marking the 30th time in his career that he's scored 20-plus points. Turner has scored at least 20 points in four of the seven games that he's appeared in this season.
• Turner moved into 23rd place on BGSU's all-time scoring list on the day, surpassing Cornelius Cash (1972-75 | 1,245), Jay Larranaga (1993-97 | 1,249), and Scott Thomas (2008-12 | 1,261). Turner has scored 1,262 points in 76 career games.
• With his 12 points, senior guard Dylan Frye surpassed Jay Larranaga on the Bowling Green all-time scoring list. Frye has scored 1,261 points in 110 career games. Frye is currently tied with Scott Thomas on the all-time scoring list (24th).
• Frye went 4-for-8 from downtown, and has now made multiple triples in a single game a total of 60 times in his career. Frye has made 211 three-pointers as a Falcon, and is now just 18 makes shy of breaking John Reimold's (2002-05 | 228) BGSU record.
• Junior forward Trey Diggs scored in double figures for the seventh time this season, as he finished with 12 points. Diggs went 3-of-5 from deep, and also added three points (3-of-4) at the foul line. Diggs is now shooting 39.7 percent (25-of-63) from downtown in 2019-20.
• Senior guard Michael Laster stuffed the stat sheet, ultimately posting a final line of nine points, five assists and two rebounds. Laster's nine points established a new season high.
• Starters Daeqwon Plowden and Caleb Fields scored seven points apiece. Plowden also pulled down 10 rebounds, marking the eighth time in his career with 10-plus rebounds. Plowden has seven double-digit rebound games in 2019-20, and has recorded at least 10 rebounds in three-consecutive games.
• Sophomores Tayler Mattos and Matiss Kulackovskis each scored six points on three made field goals. Mattos added six rebounds, as well.
• Marlon Sierra (4 rebounds), Davin Zeigler (2 rebounds) and Dylan Swingle (2 rebounds) contributed on the glass for the Orange and Brown.
