
Falcons Set To Complete At Rio Verde Invitational

RIO VERDE, Ariz. – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team continues its spring season this weekend by traveling to Arizona to compete in the Rio Verde Invitational. The invitational, which is being hosted by Western Michigan University, is being held at the Rio Verde Country Club over Feb. 22-24. The action will take place on the Quail Run course.
Play will begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start on Friday (Feb. 22), with 8:30 a.m. shotgun starts on Saturday (Feb. 23) and Sunday (Feb. 24). A total of 18 holes will be played each day.
THE FIELD
• The Rio Verde Invitational, including Bowling Green, will feature a total of 18 schools.
• The full field list includes: Akron, Arkansas State, Ball State, Bowling Green, Boise State, Bradley, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Little Rock, UMKC, Missouri State, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Seton Hall, Wichita State, Western Michigan, Xavier.
BGSU AT THE RIO VERDE INVITATIONAL
• Bowling Green has competed at the invitational in every year since 2004-05, with the 2011-12 season being the lone exception.
• The Falcons' best finish across that time period came during the 2012-13 season, when BGSU finished in fifth place.
• The Quail Run course is a par-72, 6,128-yard course.

FALCONS HAVING A FANTASTIC SEASON
• Bowling Green claimed championships at both the Spring Cup Challenge (Feb. 2) and Mid-American Match Play Challenge (Feb. 4-5) to begin the spring season.
• The Falcons defeated Ohio University in the Spring Cup Challenge. The challenge featured foursome matches, four-ball matches and singles matches, combining for a total of 12 points to be earned throughout the day. Bowling Green won the challenge by a score of 8-4.
• Three days later, BGSU won the 12-team Mid-American Match Play Challenge, defeating Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois and Florida Gulf Coast in the five-player match play event.
• Both events were hosted by Bowling Green in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
• The Falcons had a strong fall season, as well, highlighted by a championship at the 10-school field at the Shirley Spork Invitational in Ypsilanti, Michigan over Oct. 8-9.
