NEED-TO-KNOW INFORMATION
(These three fascinating facts are provided on a need-to-know basis)
• Saturday is Senior Day for the program, and fourth-year Falcons Maddie Cole and Sydney Lambert will be recognized in ceremonies prior to tipoff.
• It will also be Dr. Seuss Day at the Stroh, and Saturday's game also will feature the annual Freddie and Frieda mascot unveiling.
• Additionally, BGSU will unveil a basketball court-sized flag for the National Anthem just prior to the game. The Student Veterans Organization (SVO) raised more than $10,000 through the Falcon Funded campaign to purchase a 50' x 90' American flag.

• Saturday, as mentioned, will be Senior Day at the Stroh, with the two seniors in the Falcon program recognized in ceremonies prior to tipoff. That duo is comprised of Maddie Cole (Sylvania, Ohio) and Sydney Lambert (Cincinnati, Ohio). The Senior Day festivities are scheduled to begin at approximately 12:38 p.m.
• The Falcons have won 15 of the last 17 Senior Day/Night games since 2002, and BGSU is 20-3 in the last 23 such contests.
HEMPFLING HEATS UP...
• Freshman Kadie Hempfling scored 14 points, the highest total of her young BG career to that point, last Saturday (Feb. 23) at Miami. Then, four days later, she was held scoreless in the first half against Akron, before erupting for 19 second-half points to set a new career-high scoring total.
• Hempfling scored 14 points in the third quarter alone vs. the Zips, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor in that 10-minute stretch. She scored 10 points in the first 3:23 of the quarter, and would score BGSU's first 12 third-period points.
• Over the last two games, Hempfling is averaging 16.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.
... WHILE CECIL STAYS HOT
• Junior Andrea Cecil had her fifth double-double of the year, with 24 points and a career-high 14 rebounds vs. the Zips on Wednesday night (Feb. 27). In addition to scoring and rebounding, she led the team in assists, tying her career high with five.
• Cecil, who paced BG with 23 points at Miami last Saturday (Feb. 23), has scored 20 or more points on 10 occasions this season.
• The Oak Harbor, Ohio, native is averaging 21.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists over the last six games. During that time, she has shot 59.3 percent (48-of-81) from the floor, 53.3% (8-of-15) from the arc and 88.9% (24-of-27) from the free-throw line.
CLOSE CALLS
• A total of 12 of BGSU's 26 games this season have been decided by seven points or fewer. In fact, 12 of BGSU's first 15 MAC games have been within three points with under 12 minutes remaining.
• Eleven of those 15 contests were within three points at some time in the fourth quarter. And, no fewer than seven of the Falcons' MAC matchups have been tied or a one-possession game in the final minute.
McTHRILLEN: MORGAN'S OUT HERE BREAKING RECORDS
• Freshman Morgan McMillen is ranked among the national leaders in multiple three-point field-goal related categories. And, she is already ranked atop one school list, with a chance to break another long-distance mark by season's end.
• McMillen has made 81 three-point field goals this season, the second-highest total in school history. She is just 11 successful triples away from tying the BGSU single-season record of 92, set by Lauren Prochaska in 2009-10.
• McMillen has attempted a total of 216 long-range shots, a new single-season school record. Tracy Pontius held the old record, with 209 attempts in 2010-11.
FANTASTIC FRESHMEN
• A pair of Falcon freshmen, Kadie Hempfling and Morgan McMillen, have made an impact on the program from day one. Both players have started nearly every game, and both players are moving up several lists.
• Hempfling is ranked third or higher on no fewer than three BGSU freshman single-season charts. She is on pace to set a school record for rebounds per game by a freshman, with 8.1. Hempfling is currently third in both total rebounds (211) and assists (107) by a frosh at BG, and she is tied for ninth in steals (37).
• With 357 points this year to date, McMillen is fourth all-time on that Falcon freshman list. And, she currently ranks third in points per game, with 13.7.
THE FALCONS: A QUICK OVERVIEW
• BGSU enters the Kent State game with a record of 8-18, and the Falcons are 1-14 in MAC play. BG's MAC win came against Buffalo – an NCAA "Sweet Sixteen" team a year ago – by a 78-72 score on Feb. 13.
• The Falcons are looking to snap a four-game losing streak. Most recently, BGSU dropped an 83-73 decision to Akron at the Stroh Center on Wednesday night (Feb. 27). It was a one-point game with 3:26 to go.
• Head coach Robyn Fralick is in her first season on the BGSU bench. Her staff includes associate head coach Kim Cameron, assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Karmen Graham, assistant coach Joel Whymer, director of operations Monique Rosati and video coordinator Amanda Cutcher.
• Four Falcons are scoring in double digits this season. Junior Andrea Cecil leads the way with 15.9 points per contest, and is second on the team with 5.7 rebounds per game. Cecil has had 20 or more points 10 times this year, including a 24-point, 14-rebound effort vs. Akron on Wednesday. The junior is 16th in the nation in free-throw percentage (88.5%), and she would be 20th in the country in three-point field-goal accuracy (42.9%), but she falls one three-pointer short of qualifying for the NCAA minimum.
• Freshman Morgan McMillen is scoring 13.7 ppg, and has scored in double digits in 19 of her first 26 career outings. McMillen tied the school single-game record with eight triples vs. Marshall (in her second collegiate game). She is ranked 20th in the nation in three-pointers made per game, and has hit 81 on the year, the second-highest total in school history.
• Senior Sydney Lambert is averaging 11.3 ppg, along with 4.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. She is third on the team in boards and three-pointers made (40).
• Lambert is third at BGSU in career three-point field goals made. She is sixth in career games started, having been in the lineup for 114 of the Falcons' 115 games since she arrived on campus. Lambert leads the MAC and is 19th in the nation in minutes per game (37.10).
• Sophomore Angela Perry has 10.1 ppg and is shooting 51.4% from the floor. She has three 20-point games this year to date.
• Freshman Kadie Hempfling and sophomore Madisen Parker have 6.3 and 5.0 ppg, respectively. Hempfling averages a BG-best 8.1 rebounds per game, and she has dished out 4.1 assists per game to pace the Falcons in that category as well.
• Parker has gone 31-of-85 (36.5%) from three-point land, including a perfect 3-for-3 on three occasions this season. She made all three of her long-range attempts en route to a career-high 13 points in the first Miami game, then was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line in the win over Buffalo.
• In MAC games only, three Falcons are scoring in double figures. Cecil leads the team with 16.2 ppg, while Lambert has 11.5 ppg, McMillen 11.3 and Perry 8.4. Hempfling has 6.3 ppg, while senior Maddie Cole has 5.4 ppg in conference contests, and is shooting 50.7% (34-of-67) from the floor in the 15 games.
• BGSU returned a total of 10 letterwinners, including three starters, from last year's team that finished with an 11-19 overall record and a 3-15 mark in MAC play.
• A total of 10 different Falcons have made at least one start this season. Cecil is the only player to have started all 26 games.
SEE THE THREE, BE THE THREE
• The Falcons are currently ranked 19th in the nation in three-point field goals made per game, having hit 8.8 shots from beyond the arc per contest.
• And, BGSU is 29th in the land in total three-pointers made (230), 35th in triples attempted (654) and 50th in long-range accuracy (35.2%).
• BGSU has made at least three triples in each of the last 69 games.
• Individually, freshman Morgan McMillen is 20th in the country in three-pointers made per game (3.12), and she is 27th nationally in total three-pointers made (81) and 26th in long-range shots attempted (216). McMillen has made at least four treys in a game 13 times this year.Â
• Junior Andrea Cecil falls just shy of meeting the NCAA minimum; otherwise, she would rank 20th in the entire nation – and first in the MAC – in three-point percentage. Cecil has hit 42.9 percent of her long-range tries.
LENDING A HELPING HAND
• Last season, the Falcons were close to last in the nation in both assists and assists per game. With a total of 277 assists and an average of 9.2 helpers per game, BGSU was ranked 343rd (out of 349 teams) in the former category and 345th in the latter.
• This season, BGSU is 67th in the country with 15.4 assists per game, and the Falcons are 75th in the land with a total of 400 assists.
SHARING IS CARING
• Through 26 games this season, BGSU players have had at least five assists in a game 25 times. Freshman Kadie Hempfling has done so on 12 occasions, senior Sydney Lambert nine and junior Andrea Cecil four.
• Last season, no Falcon player ever had as many as six assists in a game. This year, Hempfling has reached or surpassed that total eight times and Lambert six.
LAMBERT'S LEGACY: 1,000-POINT SCORER NOW RESIDES IN BGSU'S TOP 25
• Senior Sydney Lambert scored her 1,000th career point on Dec. 30, becoming the 28th player in school history to reach that milestone. Lambert's 1,000th career point came in her 100th career game at BG. She has averaged at least 9.4 points per game in all four seasons, and is averaging 11.3 ppg this season and 10.2 ppg in her BGSU career.Â
• In early February, Lambert moved past Stefanie Wenzel (1,099 points from 2000-04) into 22nd place on the BGSU career scoring list. Lambert currently has 1,162 career points, just two points behind 21st-place Andrea Nordmann (1,164 points from 1989-93). Jacki Raterman (1,213 points from 1995-99) sits in 20th place.
LAMBERT'S LEGACY II: START ME UP
• Senior Sydney Lambert started each of BGSU's first 108 games after joining the program. She missed her first-ever game on Feb. 6, when she did not make the trip to NIU due to injury. Lambert returned to the lineup for the first Miami game (Feb. 9), and has been back in the lineup ever since. Lambert now has started 114 career contests, the sixth-highest total in BG history.
• If Lambert is in the starting five on Saturday vs. KSU, she would tie Jackie Motycka (115 from 1985-89) for fifth place in school history. Kate Achter (124 from 2004-08) holds down the fourth-place spot on the BG list for career starts.
LAMBERT'S LEGACY III: SYD-THREE LAMBERT
• Senior Sydney Lambert enters the KSU matchup having made a total of 227 three-point field goals in her career. With a triple in the first NIU game (Jan. 16), she moved past BGSU Hall-of-Famer Liz Honegger (216 three-pointers from 2003-07) into sole possession of third place on that list.
• Lambert is averaging almost exactly two treys per game in her career, and has a chance to pass Tracy Pontius (235 from 2007-11) and finish her career in second place on the BGSU list. Lauren Prochaska (who, like Pontius, terrorized the MAC from 2007-11) holds the school record with 310 career triples made.
THREE-MARKABLE
• Through the years, BGSU rosters typically have been stocked with players who can score from three-point range. As a team, BG has hit at least four triples in 25 of 26 games this season, and the Falcons have made at least eight treys on 15 occasions, including a school record-tying 16 vs. Marshall in the home opener.
• In fact, BG has knocked down four or more three-pointers in 139 of the last 148 games, dating to late in the 2013-14 season.
• BGSU will be looking to extend a mucho-impressive streak in the KSU kerfuffle. The Falcons have hit at least one three-pointer in each of the last 455 games. BG has not been held without a triple in over 14 years – since Feb. 12, 2005, at Akron, when the Falcons won, 61-52, despite going 0-of-13 from long distance.
EYASSES (IT'S THE PLURAL OF EYAS) (LOOK IT UP)
• It's a youthful group that has taken the floor for the Falcons this season. A total of six players have seen action in at least 25 of BGSU's 26 games this year to date. That sextet includes one senior, one junior, one sophomore and three freshmen.
• The group that has emerged as the top-nine players in Coach Robyn Fralick's rotation consists of three frosh, three sophomores (including one redshirt soph), one junior and a pair of seniors.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE GOLDEN FLASHES
• Kent State is 16-10 on the season, and the Golden Flashes are 9-6 in MAC play. The Flashes have won four of the last five games, with the lone loss a two-point decision vs. Ohio last weekend. KSU bounced back from that setback to top league-leading Miami, 67-58, on Wednesday night. The Flashes are 10-3 at home and 6-7 on the road this season. Megan Carter has 16.5 points to pace three double-figure scorers, while freshmen Asiah Dingle and Lindsay Thall have 12.7 and 10.3 ppg, respectively. Coach Todd Starkey welcomed back five letterwinners, including two starters, from a 2017-18 team that went 13-19 overall and 5-13 in the MAC.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead Kent State, 55-34, in the all-time series between the teams, but the Golden Flashes have captured each of the last two meetings. Several weeks ago in Kent, Andrea Cecil hit a pair of free throws that tied the game with 16.7 seconds remaining (after BG had trailed by 13 points with just over five-and-a-half minutes to go), but KSU's Asiah Dingle made two shots from the stripe with just 5.5 seconds left, and KSU picked up a 77-73 win (Feb. 16, 2019).
• The last meeting at the Stroh Center saw BG come away with a 60-50 victory (Jan. 17, 2018). KSU has won six of the last nine matchups, after BG has won eight-straight meetings and 20 of the previous 21 tilts. BGSU is 27-12 in home games (including 6-2 in the Stroh), 21-20 on the road and 7-2 at neutral sites vs. Kent/Kent State over the years.
DOWN THE ROAD
• Following the KSU game, the Falcons will end the regular season with road contests vs. Buffalo Wednesday (March 6) and Ohio next Saturday (March 9).
• Then, the MAC Tournament begins with first-round games on Monday, March 11. BGSU will hit the road to face an opponent to be determined.
