Ryen Draper Races Into Record Book On Day One Of Raleigh Relays

Raleigh, N.C. – Sophomore Ryen Draper raced into Bowling Green's top 10 all-time in the 400 as the BGSU Track & Field team competed at the Raleigh Relays Friday, hosted by North Carolina State.

DRAPER SETS NEW PERSONAL BEST
- Just a sophomore, Ryen Draper shattered her personal best time in the 400, placing seventh out of 79 competitors with a time of 55.84 seconds.
- Draper's time moves her into tenth place in school history in the event and shattered her previous best time of 56.41, set at the Toledo Invitational a year ago.
- Heading into the weekend, only three sprinters in the Mid-American Conference had posted a faster time this year.
OTHER STRONG PERFORMANCES
- Another sophomore sprinter, Savannah Nevels, set a new personal best in the 100 with a time of 12.10 seconds to place eighth out of 60 runners.
- Draper was not the only Falcon to have an impressive performance in the 400. Freshman Iyanna Ross ran 56.22 in her first collegiate 400 and freshman Jazzlynn Gaiters set a PR time of 56.92 seconds, more than a full second faster than a week ago in her first collegiate meet.
- Redshirt freshman Zaresha Neal threw the discus 154-feet-1 (46.98m) to establish a personal best in the event. Neal also had the Falcons' best mark in the shot put at 48-0.5 (14.64m).
- Redshirt sophomore Daija Young had a PR in the shot put at 44-1.5 (13.45m).
UP NEXT
- Bowling Green will complete day two of the Raleigh Relays Saturday, while Aliyah Gustafson will compete in the discus and shot put at the Texas Relays.
