Ryen Draper Races Into Record Book On Day One Of Raleigh Relays

Raleigh, N.C. – Sophomore Ryen Draper raced into Bowling Green's top 10 all-time in the 400 as the BGSU Track & Field team competed at the Raleigh Relays Friday, hosted by North Carolina State.

DRAPER SETS NEW PERSONAL BEST

Just a sophomore, Ryen Draper shattered her personal best time in the 400, placing seventh out of 79 competitors with a time of 55.84 seconds.
Draper's time moves her into tenth place in school history in the event and shattered her previous best time of 56.41, set at the Toledo Invitational a year ago.
Heading into the weekend, only three sprinters in the Mid-American Conference had posted a faster time this year.

OTHER STRONG PERFORMANCES

Another sophomore sprinter, Savannah Nevels, set a new personal best in the 100 with a time of 12.10 seconds to place eighth out of 60 runners.
Draper was not the only Falcon to have an impressive performance in the 400. Freshman Iyanna Ross ran 56.22 in her first collegiate 400 and freshman Jazzlynn Gaiters set a PR time of 56.92 seconds, more than a full second faster than a week ago in her first collegiate meet.
Redshirt freshman Zaresha Neal threw the discus 154-feet-1 (46.98m) to establish a personal best in the event. Neal also had the Falcons' best mark in the shot put at 48-0.5 (14.64m).
Redshirt sophomore Daija Young had a PR in the shot put at 44-1.5 (13.45m).

UP NEXT

Bowling Green will complete day two of the Raleigh Relays Saturday, while Aliyah Gustafson will compete in the discus and shot put at the Texas Relays.
