Falcons host RedHawks on Tuesday before heading to Muncie this weekend

SETTING THE SCENE
• The Bowling Green State University softball team prepares for a week of key Mid-American Conference matchups. Head coach Sarah Willis and the Falcons begin the week by hosting Miami University in a Tuesday (April 2) doubleheader, with first pitch set for 3:00 p.m. at Meserve Field.
• Then, the Falcons will hit the road to face the preseason MAC favorite, as BG heads to Muncie for a three-game weekend series with Ball State University. The Falcons and Cardinals will play a Friday (April 5) single game and a Saturday (April 6) double-dip.
TOUCH 'EM ALL (FOUR FASCINATING FACTS ABOUT THE FALCONS)
• Last year, in 16 home games, the Falcons hit a total of three homers as a team. This season, through just four games at Meserve Field, BGSU has hit seven round-trippers. Senior Kellie Natham already has three dingers of her own in 2019 home action.
• Junior Taylor Blevins has had two hits in five of the last six games, and has raised her batting average nearly 30 points in that time. Blevins is batting a team-high .450 in MAC games this season to date.
• Junior Madi McCoy has homered in five of her last seven games, and has 14 RBI during that time. McCoy leads BG with seven homers and seven multiple-RBI games this season.
• McCoy has reached base in each of her last 15 games. Fellow junior Evelyn Loyola has reached base in 10-straight games.

• BGSU's leadoff hitter has reached base 41.5 percent of the time this season (83 times in 200 opportunities). The leadoff batter has gotten on base at least three times in each of the last six games, and in 18 of this season's 30 games.
DINGERS
• Junior Logan Everett hit her first collegiate home run at Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday. She became the 10th different Falcon to hit a homer this season. A total of eight different BG players homered during all of last year.
THE 2019 FALCONS: A QUICK OVERVIEW
• The Falcons are 13-17 overall and 1-4 in the MAC heading into the Miami DH, and BG has won three of the last four games. The Falcons are batting .283 to the opponents' .259 on the year.
• BGSU is 3-1 at home, 6-7 on the road and 4-9 at neutral sites to date.
• Three Falcon starters are hitting over .350, with five more regulars batting .260 or higher. Junior Madi McCoy leads the way with a .403 BA, and she paces the club with seven home runs, 23 RBI and a .746 slugging percentage.
• Junior Taylor Blevins and sophomore Nikki Sorgi are hitting .364 and .359, respectively. Sorgi has a team-leading 11 extra-base hits, while Blevins is batting .450 in MAC games to pace the Falcons.
• Junior Evelyn Loyola is hitting .283, while freshman Marissa Mullen is batting .279 and senior Alex Sorgi .277. Loyola has reached base in each of her last 10 games, while Mullen leads the team with 17 walks and an on-base pct. of .523.
• Alex Sorgi has 28 hits to tie her sister for the team lead, and the senior has BG-best totals of 22 runs scored and 17 stolen bases.
• In the circle, seniors Meredith Miller and Brooke Parker have combined to start 29 of BG's 30 games. Miller has made 17 starts, and is 9-8 with a 3.30 earned-run average. She has seven complete games, one shutout and 108 strikeouts in 101 2/3 innings, and has allowed opponents to hit just .234 against her.

RECORD WATCH
• Senior Alex Sorgi scored her 100th career run the MAC opener at Ohio, and now has 105 as a Falcon. She is ranked eighth in school history on that list.
• Sorgi has moved into second place in BGSU history in stolen bases, and will likely end her career in that spot. With six steals last week, Sorgi moved past Jenny Ranz (57 steals from 1994-97) on that list, and she now has 60. BG Hall-of-Famer Amy Lienhardt (121 steals from 1985-88) has a firm grip on the school record.
• Sorgi is now 14th in career walks (56) and 15th in batting average (.303), while seniors Kali Holcomb and Kellie Natham are ranked in the top-10 on the BG career chart for sacrifice flies.
• Senior pitchers Meredith Miller and Brooke Parker are ranked on numerous BG lists as well. Miller is third in school history in strikeouts per seven innings (6.14), and is now tied for sixth in total strikeouts (377). • Parker is 11th in appearances, and she is tied for sixth in career saves. Parker is 14th in innings pitched, strikeouts and K's per seven innings, and she ranks 15th in games started at BG.

THE OPPONENTS
• Miami is 16-12 overall, and the RedHawks are 1-2 in the MAC. MU has been idle since sweeping a doubleheader at Wright State on Tuesday (March 26).
• The 'Hawks dropped a pair of eight-inning games vs. Central Michigan in their MAC-opening series, before capturing the final game, 7-3, on March 23.
• Ashton Slone is hitting a team-high .392, and she also leads the team in walks (16), RBI (20), on-base percentage (.505) and slugging pct. (.676).

• Haley Dominique is hitting .355, and leads the club with 16 extra-base hits and a .636 slugging pct. She is one of four players with 10 or more extra-base knocks.
• Sarah Venker has a 12-2 record and a team-low 1.98 ERA, and she has 75 strikeouts in 74 1/3 innings. Aeshia Miles is 5-6 with a 3.63 ERA and 62 K's in 63 2/3 innings.
• Coach Megan Ciolli Bartlett's team was picked to win the MAC in 2019. She welcomed back 13 letterwinners, including eight positional starters, from a 2018 club that went 37-19 overall and tied for the West Division title with a 16-7 league ledger.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead Miami, 55-52, in the all-time series between the teams. Last year, the teams saw a scheduled DH in Oxford washed away due to inclement weather. The following week, MU captured a 7-2 win, before the Falcons picked up a 4-1 victory in the second game of a doubleheader at Meserve Field (April 11, 2018). BGSU is 37-17 at home, 13-30 on the road and 5-5 in neutral-site meetings with the Redskins/RedHawks over the years.
