Swim/Dive Named CSCAA Scholar-Athlete Team With Eighth-Highest GPA In Division I
June 25, 2019 | Women's Swimming & Diving
The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced their 2019 spring semester Scholar All-American team, with the BGSU Women's Swimming & Diving team earning Scholar All-America status. To achieve this, a program must have a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. This spring, the Falcons posted an excellent 3.69 team GPA.
"Coach Perkins had a great deal to live up to in his first year, and this shows he's up to the challenge," CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart noted. BGSU's team GPA of 3.69 is the eighth-highest women's team GPA in Division I and the second-highest women's team GPA in the MAC.
The BGSU swimming and diving program went 8-5 overall in 2018-19, including a 2-3 record in the Mid-American Conference. The Falcons went 5-0 at home in Cooper Pool, including a 179-121 win over Michigan State. BGSU won three individual MAC Championships as Talisa Lemke took the gold in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions and Daisy Platts won the 200 backstroke.
More Information On The CSCAA Scholar All-American Teams
This was a historic year for the CSCAA Scholar All-American teams. A record 480 institutions were named to this year's list, with women's teams recording a record-high 3.45 median team GPA. For the first time in CSCAA history, over 100 men's teams were recognized as All-American. Five conferences (A-10, Ivy League, Colonial Athletic Association, Mid-American Conference, and Big XII) placed every men's team on the honor roll. The ACC placed the most teams on the list with ten. Individual Scholar All-Americans will be announced by the CSCAA next week.
