Two-time MAC Coach of the Year Matt Fannon welcomes 10 newcomers to the Falcon family

Fannon, Falcons Welcome 10 Newcomers to 2019 Roster

A total of 10 student-athletes will join Bowling Green State University women's soccer coach Matt Fannon's roster this fall. Those 10 newcomers include Katie Cox (Granville, Ohio), Jasmijn Dijsselhof (Hattem, Netherlands), Lena Kovar (Vienna, Austria), Lauren Milner (North Ridgeville, Ohio), Becky Moss (Lebanon, Ohio), Makenzie Ortman (Sylvania, Ohio), Tori Rydzeski (Brighton, Colo.), Audrey Shea (Upper Arlington, Ohio), Kennedy White (Canton, Mich.) and Madi Wolfbauer (Canton, Mich.).
Nine of those student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent and will be freshmen at the University in the 2019-20 academic year. Wolfbauer is a transfer from the University of Illinois.
"We have an excellent blend of people and players joining our team in the 2019 class," said Fannon. "We wanted to enhance our soccer culture with different backgrounds and styles represented in the group, and feel very confident about the overall ability of the players coming in.Â
"These young women understand the pressure that comes with being the new faces on a team with such high aspirations, and we believe we have prepared them well to fully integrate with our returning players immediately."

Earned four letters at Granville H.S. ('19) under coach Scott Forster ... three-time All-Ohio First-Team selection, earning All-America honors in each of her last two years ... had 86 goals and 75 assists in her career  ... daughter of Clint and Tami Cox ... currently undecided upon a major at BGSU ... older sister, Nikki, is also a member of the BGSU women's soccer program.

A 2019 graduate of the Centre for Sports and Education ... daughter of Hans and Harriët Dijsselhof ... plans to major in exercise science at BGSU ... favorite athlete is Marcelo ... lists her parents as her biggest influence.
LENA KOVAR | 5-6 | D | Vienna, Austria | Borg für Leistungssport St. Pölten
A graduate of Borg für Leistungssport St. Pölten ('19) ... daughter of Stefan and Susanna Kovar ... plans to major in health science ... has played for the Austrian National Team at the U-17 through U-19 levels ... also has played for FK Austria Wien Frauen.
LAUREN MILNER | 5-8 | D/M | North Ridgeville, Ohio | North Ridgeville H.S.
Earned four letters at North Ridgeville H.S. ('19) under coach Chris Moore ... had career totals of 12 goals and 25 assists for the Rangers ... named to the All-Greater Cleveland District First Team in 2018 ... plans to major in nursing at BGSU ... daughter of Brett and Colleen Milner ... older brother, Kyle, is the student director of operations for the BGSU men's soccer program ... has played club ball for Team Challenger FC.
BECKY MOSS | 5-6 | GK | Lebanon, Ohio | Mount Notre Dame H.S.
Earned four letters at Mount Notre Dame H.S. ('19) for coach Kirsten Johnson ... helped the Cougars to a four-year record of 47-17-11, including a 16-4-1 mark in her senior season ... the team won three Girls Greater Catholic League (GGCL) titles in those four years after having never previously won a title ... plans to major in business ... daughter of Dave and Barb Moss ... has played club ball for Ohio Elite ... favorite athlete is Rose Lavelle (a 2013 graduate of Mount Notre Dame).

Earned three letters at Southview H.S. ('19) for coach Majd Ali ... a three-time All-Northern Lakes League selection ... was named to the All-NLL First Team in 2016 after scoring 24 goals and registering 19 assists for the Cougars ... missed her senior season due to injury ... daughter of Steve and Sheila Ortman ... plans to major in business marketing at BGSU ... has played club ball for Pacesetter SC.
TORI RYDZESKI | 5-3 | F/M | Brighton, Colo. | Brighton, H.S.
Earned three letters at Brighton H.S. ('19) under coach Mike Dat ... had 30 goals, including 11 in her junior season and 19 in her senior campaign ... an all-league first-team selection in each of those two years ... Bulldogs went a combined 32-16-0 during her three seasons ... played club ball instead of high-school soccer during her sophomore year ... daughter of Gary and Jackie Rydzeski ... plans to major in business at BGSU ... has played club ball for FC Boulder and Broomfield SC, helping the latter team to a state title in 2019.
AUDREY SHEA | 5-7 | D | Upper Arlington, Ohio | Bishop Watterson H.S.
A graduate of Bishop Watterson H.S. ('19), playing for coach Scott Dempsey ... helped the Eagles to a Central Catholic League championship in 2018, her lone season on the team ... Bishop Watterson won district and regional championships as well, advancing to the Division I state semifinals ... played fall ball with her club team during her first three years of high school ... daughter of Steve and Kelley Shea ... plans to major in biology at BGSU ... played club ball for Ohio Premier, helping that program to a 2019 ECNL National final four appearance.
KENNEDY WHITE | 5-10 | F | Canton, Mich. | Plymouth H.S.
A four-year letterwinner at Plymouth H.S. ('19) under coach Jeff Neschich ... was a three-time All-State First-Team selection ... had career totals of 95 goals (a school record) and 48 assists for the Wildcats, scoring at least 16 goals each year ... tied the school's single-season goals record as a sophomore, with 26, then broke that record with 32 goals as a senior ... daughter of Brandon and Kate White ... plans to major in business (marketing & management) at BGSU ... played club ball for Canton Celtic Soccer Club from U7 to U18 levels, before playing for the Novi Jags (U19) in 2019.
MADI WOLFBAUER | 5-9 | F/D | Canton, Mich. | Canton H.S. | Univ. of Illinois
Spent two seasons at the University of Illinois, seeing action in a total of 12 matches ... played in two matches in her initial season before being redshirted due to injury ... scored her first collegiate goal vs. Northern Illinois last season, and converted a penalty kick during the PK phase of the conference tournament quarterfinal round, as UI advanced past Wisconsin ... attended Canton H.S. ('17) ... ranked the No. 32 midfielder in the nation, and was also ranked among the Top 100 Players to Watch by Top Drawer Soccer ... plans to major in business marketing at BGSU ... daughter of Robert and Jamie Wolfbauer ... played club ball for the Michigan Hawks ... played for Motor City FC in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) in the summer of 2018.
"To become a Falcon, we make it clear that the strive for perfection should be on the forefront of your mind at all times, and the level of expectation in all areas of your life is heavy," said Fannon. "Our newcomers have been aware of this since their first conversation with us, and are all excited to live that reality on a daily basis. We feel very confident that this group will complement our returning players brilliantly, and together we can be successful."
BGSU won both the MAC regular-season and tournament titles in 2018. The Falcons went 14-5-3 overall, tying the school record for wins and setting a new record for fewest losses in a season, and the Falcons were 10-1-0 in MAC regular-season play. BG won the league regular-season title for just the second time in program history, and the total of 10 conference wins set a new school record. The Brown and Orange captured the MAC Tournament title for the third time.
Since Fannon took the helm prior to the 2017 season, the Falcons are 27-12-4 overall, 16-5-1 in MAC regular-season matches and 20-6-2 in all games vs. conference foes.

The Falcons went 14-5-3 overall, tying the school record for wins and setting a new record for fewest losses in a season, and the Falcons were 10-1-0 in MAC regular-season play.
