Robin Earns MAC Player-of-the-Week Honors
September 10, 2019 | Men's Soccer
Junior defender was instrumental in a pair of wins over Big Ten foes
Bowling Green State University men's soccer standout Achille Robin has been named a Mid-American Conference Player of the Week. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday morning (Sept. 10).
Robin earns co-Player-of-the-Week accolades, sharing this week's honor with Western Michigan's Anthony Bowie.
This marks the second award in as many days for Robin. On Monday, he was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week. Robin has earned both awards for the first time in his Falcon career.
Robin, a native of Les Sables D'Olonne, France, contributed at both ends of the field as the Falcons beat two Big Ten Conference teams over the weekend. The defender helped the Falcons to two clean sheets in wins over Wisconsin (1-0) and Northwestern (3-0) at NU's Lakeside Classic. Robin and the Falcons allowed the opponents only five combined shots on goal in 180 minutes of action.
At the other end of the park, Robin drew a Northwestern foul in the box that led to a penalty kick and BG's first goal on Sunday, and the junior then scored a slick goal of his own to double the lead en route to that three-goal win. Robin and the BGSU defense have now gone 325:13 without allowing a goal, as the Falcons have posted three-straight shutouts and surrendered just one goal in four matches this season. BG has a team GAA of just 0.24 this season to date.
The Falcons are 3-0-1 on the season, with all four matches having been played away from home. BG opens the home portion of the schedule on Friday evening (Sept. 13), when Ohio State comes to Cochrane Stadium for a 7:00 p.m. match.
