UP NEXT IN FALCON SOCCER
• The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team continues a four-match road swing with a pair of contests this week. Head coach Matt Fannon and the Falcons head to East Lansing, Mich., for a Thursday evening (Sept. 12) matchup with Michigan State University. First touch is set for 7:00 p.m. at DeMartin Stadium.
• Then, the Orange and Brown will venture to Chicago this weekend, for a Sunday (Sept. 15) meeting with DePaul University. That contest will begin at 1:00 p.m. locally (2:00 p.m. ET) at Wish Field.
FIVE FASCINATING FALCON FACTS
• Senior Chelsee Washington scored the Falcons' first 'Golden Goal' in just under three years when she found the back of the net with only six seconds on the clock in the second overtime against Dayton on Thursday night (Sept. 5).
• Washington's goal, at the 109:54 mark, was the latest goal in school history, as the Falcons topped UD, 2-1. Washington broke the record that had been set by Erica Hubert in the Falcons' last OT win. Hubert scored at the 109:39 mark as BG defeated Navy, 2-1, on Sept. 11, 2016.
• With that win over UD, the Falcons extended the current home unbeaten streak to a school-record 13 matches. BG is now 11-0-2 in the last 13 contests at Cochrane, and the Falcons are now 19-3-2 at home since Matt Fannon assumed the head-coaching helm prior to the 2017 season.
• Washington and fellow senior Maureen Kennedy are two of the top scorers in home matches in program history. Kennedy is tied for third with 32 career points at Cochrane Stadium, while Washington is now deadlocked for sixth with 30 points scored in home contests.
• Freshman goalkeeper Becky Moss made her collegiate debut in the Dayton match, and picked up the victory. Moss then played all 90 minutes on Sunday (Sept. 8) at Michigan, making six saves, including several spectacular stops.

THE OPPONENTS
• Michigan State is off to a 5-1-0 start this year. with the lone loss coming at Butler. The Spartans picked up a 3-0 victory over Detroit Mercy on Sunday to improve to 4-0-0 at home. Gia Wahlberg leads the team with seven goals and 14 points, and she has three GWG. Danielle Stephan has seven points, including a team-high five assists, for head coach Tom Saxton's club. Lauren Kozal has played all but 16 minutes in goal and has 20 saves and a 1.02 GAA. MSU has already matched last year's win total, after going 5-10-3 in 2018.Â
• DePaul is 2-4-0 on the season, having played a difficult schedule to date. One of the team's wins was against then-No. 11 Kansas, and the Blue Demons – like the Falcons – defeated Dayton by one goal. Four different players have scored one goal apiece this fall, including Jade Eriksen-Russo, who has a team-leading three points. Mollie Eriksson has played every second in goal, and has 18 saves and a 1.33 GAA to date. The Blue Demons went 8-6-5 overall and 4-3-2 in Big East Conference play a year ago. Head coach Erin Chastain welcomes back 17 players, including six starters, from that club.
THE SERIES
• BGSU trails Michigan State, 16-1-2, in the all-time series, and the Falcons will be looking to snap a seven-match losing streak vs. the Spartans. Starting in 1997, BG's first year of varsity soccer, the programs met every year through 2013. Then, the teams did not meet until 2017, when visiting MSU picked up a 2-1 decision at Cochrane. BG's last visit to East Lansing resulted in a 3-1 MSU win in 2013. The Falcons' lone series win came in August of 1999, and the teams played to 1-1 draws in both 2001 and 2007.
• BGSU and DePaul are tied, 0-0-1, in that series. The teams played to a 1-1 draw at Cochrane last Sept. 13.
DOWN THE ROAD...
• Following the DePaul match, the Falcons will wrap up non-conference play with a trip to Morgantown to face West Virginia. That match is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 22, at 1:00 p.m.
• Then, BG returns home to begin the Mid-American Conference schedule vs. Akron the following Friday (Sept. 27).
