MAGNOLIA, Texas – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team sits in the top half of the leaderboard at the Bearkat Invitational following a strong effort over 36 holes on Monday (Sept. 30). The Falcons, after posting a team score of 315 in the opening round, finished the day with a second-round 303.

Bowling Green's 303 in the second round was the fourth-best score in the round, bettered by only the top three schools on the team leaderboard. Houston Baptist sits in first place after turning in a team score of 591.

BGSU sits in sixth place at the 13-team event, which is being hosted by Sam Houston State at the High Meadow Ranch Golf Club in Magnolia, Texas. With Bowling Green's strong second round, the Falcons moved up four spots on the leaderboard and are within five strokes of both Incarnate Word and Oklahoma City.

Kayla Davis is tied for 17th on the individual leaderboard, having turned in rounds of 77 and 75 over the first 36 holes of play. Jessica Madry's second-round 74 was the low round on the day for the Falcons. Madry is tied for 23rd heading into the final round.

Aly Kovach and Dani Austinson led the team in birdies with four apiece. Kelsey Sager began her day with three birdies in the first round, while Nichole Cox improved on her first-round score by seven strokes.
