BGSU Set To Host MAC XC Championships
November 16, 2020 | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
Bowling Green, Ohio -- BGSU will host the Mid-American Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships Saturday.
Similar to the Falcon Invitational on Nov. 7, the race is set to begin at 2:00 pm with the women running the 6k and the men running the 8k shortly after 3:00 pm. Akron, Buffalo, and Kent State will be making their first appearances at the BGXC course this season.
Eastern Michigan enters the race as the reigning champions of last year's MAC Championships at Northern Illinois. They will be looking to continue a pair of remarkable feats, as the women will be searching for their sixth consecutive conference championship, while the men will be aiming for their 10th title in the last 11 years.
The men from Miami (Ohio) will attempt to win their second conference championship in three years, being the only ones to halt the remarkable success of Eastern Michigan in the past decade.
BGSU's Kailee Perry, who finished first at the Falcon Invitational with a time of 21:09.5, will look to continue her strong season with a victory at the championships. Last year's conference champion, Ashley Tutt from Northern Illinois, will be looking to repeat after a third place finish two weeks ago. For the men, Ohio's Josh Park will be searching for his second consecutive meet victory after posting a first place time of 24:47.8 in the 8k. Eastern Michigan's Toby Gualter and Baldvin Magnusson were hot on Park's tail with times of 24:59.5 and 25:00.8, respectively, and will attempt to close the gap this weekend.
The Falcons are hoping to improve from finishing places of eighth (out of nine) for the men and 10th (out of 12) for the women at last year's MAC Championships.
